There's an extensive wiki that has every piece of information about the game on it.
For instance, lets say a simple POI starts later in the game that you found a note which starts the POI, then you have to go to such and such apartment to continue. If you visit the apartment before you find the note, which is the start of the POI, you might not get the POI at all if you visited the apartment already then found the note later. Or if its multiple spots you have to move about, you might lose experience for the early steps because you jumped into the POI in the middle. Oh, this POI i have to jump around and visit 5 different places, if i start at the beginning and officially get the POI at the first step, ill visit 5 spots, get 350, 350, 750, 350, 350 experience arriving at each sequence spot. If i just arrive at the 3rd spot i might be able to continue the POI from there to spots 4 and 5, but spots 1 and 2 won't occur and i'll lose 700 experience by jumping into the middle.
I did that the first time playing, not knowing what POI's really were and later figured out that i completely missed a couple because i went into certain apartments early and basically cancelled the chance to get that POI. Again, they aren't important but you can lose experience by not doing them correctly.
