How do you redeem the codes for the Day One edition?
So I am posting this on behalf of a reddit user who asked "So I've got the game early, and I registered on the Square Enix website and registered the game, but how do I access the content?"

Would I be correct that there is 2 codes that you feed into steam?

You need the pre-order version. It is a single key. Redeem it on Steam and it will also show all of the pre-order DLC.

Thank-you, I'm going to relay that back now :)

I would imagine you would just need the one code. If you buy it from GMG you only get one code and everything is applied. I assume by the 'Got it early' part that they got the physical copy. Most likely when they are able to install it it will have everything included with the install. Phyiscal copies usually have the 'preorder bonus' included with the game for the entire of the first run copies so you can find copies with the codes sometimes months later.

May i ask if you got it from GMG and if you got a key yet?

Yeah I did, and I got my key as soon as I finished my order as I got it after the preloads had started.

Hmmmm just got this reply from the reddit guy:

No this is the day one edition not the preorder. A paper in the game case tells you to go register it at sqex.to/register, for which you have to make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Square Enix account. After registering it there is no option to download any dlc or redeem any code anywhere. You just get a "congrats you registered your game" and will be redirected to their main page where they promote Squenix stuff. You can see that you registered the game in your account but like I said no code or anything...

Just saw that even the collector's edition, even though it says DVD-ROM version actually only comes with a game code. The piece of paper he mentioned has a key on it right? If so he would just need to open steam, click ADD A GAME in the lower left corner, click Activate Product on Steam..., then just enter the key from the paper.
If he's done that part, then to make sure everything is good have him check the DLC list on his Library page for the game.

Yeah I just asked him if there a steam code on that paper. I linked to this topic over there as well so that others can see this.

Just got a reply:

Nope, it says you need to register the code in your square enix account and from there you get the steam code(s)

Well then aside from Square Enix support there's no where else for him to turn. It's probable they are waiting until the 23rd and then they'll be sending out the codes to those who have registered.

Well this is interesting:

I've got physical copy today in Poland. The game itself is on three DVDs and there is single piece of paper with code on it. It is not Steam key nor Square Enix code.
That key has to be activated by program on first DVD called "redeem.exe". It is supposed to launch activation window where you type that code from paper. Then you get Steam activation key.
Supposedly, because everytime I launch this program I get error that "GIP.exe" stopped working. I believe this program calls home to check the key included with physical copy, and then you get Steam key. Maybe "redeem.exe" can't reach outside server, because the server itself is inactive right now. And if that's true, well, this sucks ass.

I've also got a physical copy in Poland but after tryimg to redeem the code using "redeem.exe" from the DVD I see an error: "Put original disk into drive".

That's strange :(

Bingo:

Alright. It seems the problem was with my PC. I tried launching "redeem.exe" on other computer and it worked without problems. Got Steam key right away. Still - can't install game from DVDs, because game is not released yet. But I can preload it on Steam, so no biggie.
ragnorokj Aug 24, 2016 @ 4:42pm
I got the code on that square-enix website after entering mine, but of course they don't indicate where to put it! The code is like "aaaaa-bbbbb-ccccc-ddddd-eeeee" I hate these people.
