Denuvo is great! Please release more games with Denuvo.
Game publishers are doing the PC gaming community a great service by releasing games with Denuvo anti-tamper software to prevent crackers from removing the Steam copy protection.

Piracy is a plague that has severely limited or killed off many beloved franchises and classic genres. The Glorious PC Gaming Master Race never asked for this.

Now let us embrace Denuvo and bask in its awesome glory!

Piracy is not a thing, Pirates dont buy games one way or another, Only customer are hurt by DRMs.

Those exist only to make shareholders/investors who have no clue what a game is happy. No other reason, companies couldnt care less who plays their game.

As much as I dislike DRM, that's as deluded a viewpoint as the OP, unless I'm missing something here.
Situation is way too complex with way too many demographics for a single paragraph to summarize. That said I don't think it's quite as deluded as OP. If the cheap-♥♥♥♥ demographic (where they'll get it, but go for whatever is cheapest) was all that big Denuvo PR and publishers would be running with it like a smoking gun. The numbers would show Denuvo being phenomenally successful, there wouldn't even be room for debate.

Fact is most the people either can't or won't buy it if they can't get it free, so DRM mostly does land on the customers.

True. I remember a couple of years ago, I bought a game from Steam (it was a triple A title, can't remember which) and the pirates were playing it two days before Steam unlocked it. When it was finally unlocked by Steam, it took over 2 hours to decrypt. A bit dumb when you consider it only took about twenty minutes to download from Steam. Point is, a paying customer is made to jump through hoops while those who didn't pay for it, installed and played it with the minimum of hassle.

p.s. I remember downloading Batman Arkham City from Steam. That took about fifteen minutes to download (approximately 20GB) and about twenty minutes to decrypt. So what has happened lately that makes some of these games take hours to decrypt?

Content decryptions take a long time because they are limited by your drive speed and processing power. It's not related to Denuvo. Preloading is more for ensuring the servers don't die completely because of people downloading the game and also for people who don't have good internet connections who want to play on day one.

But if a game like Arkham City decrypted in 20 minutes, why can't the newer games hurry up a little? If anything, my hardware has improved a couple of times since Arkham City.

I can't find any info on HOW they encrypt it really, but it's possible they changed to a different method of encryption. The pirates might have just been using something unlocked in a different region, sort of like how a bunch of people used VPNs to play Skyrim and Fallout 4 early because it unlocked in Australia first. Most likely, they just use different implementations across different games.

I only dislike Denuvo because it frequently prevents a game from being modded, effectively crippling one of the best parts of PC gaming. Were it not for that fact I wouldn't be overly bothered by it.

Can you name an example?

Denuvo only protects the executable and AFAIK you don't need to edit the executable for modding. You only need to edit game files (textures, maps, 3D models, etc).

For cosmetic modding sure, for more indepth modding, depending on how the game is set up, it's possible that you would need to edit the exe

It depends mostly on luck. I won't stick to any predictions.

Denuvo is just really hard to crack and it is getting ever harder. There is already a long list of uncracked Denuvo games, some have been on the market for almost a year. I don't expect this to be any different for Mankind Divided.

As I already said, depends on luck. I don't really care though (pre-oredered around 1 year ago). But I'm kinda sad because companies spend money on DRM while they could be spending dollars on, for example, on geographical market expansion, or, idk, increasing duplicated (PC+console) sales or actually something that would give them a huge profit.
