Game length - 30 hours of content?
I have been talking to some friends who are telling me that they all finished the game (with all side missions) in around 30 hours.
Now, that feels a little short.
Do I have some glorified but inaccurate memory of Human Revolution when I seem to remember that I spent considerably longer playing that game?
I am fully enjoying the title right now but the prospect of only having around 30 hours worth of gametime has me a little worried.
Was HR around the same length as this? If so I dont need to worry cause that was a good length for the amount of mechnics and not dragging out the story too long.

the game isnt that long story wise, but yeah its about 30 hours if all you do is focus the missions side and main.

I've just posted in another thread. For players who will explore the game and not rush just because nor want to set a fastrun record, it's way more than 30 hours.
I've just finished exploreing Prague and left for Golem City - took me 36 hours for just that.

If you want to fastrun the game, then sure, it'll be supershort.

HR had a longer main story but less world building and exploration. MD seems to have gone more the open world route. If you only do the main missions + the the side ones that come from it you are missing half the game.

Clocked in at 21 hours for both games, on my first playthroughs. I did MD Pacifist on the hardest difficulty though and HR on normal. Did all sidequests aswell.

Btw it's easy to check on those who claim they did all side missions if they speak the truth. Just watch their achievements (side missions add those). I've seen plenty of claims from people that they did sidemissions and then found out they have only one or two sidemission achievements. Others don't want we know the truth so they set the profile on private.

I am sorry but there is a difference between what most people do and "speed running". Your passive aggressive attitude seems to suggest that you are one of those people who spend lots of time on utterly boring flavour stuff.
I do not intend to finish the game as quick as possible but going around just to explore does not interest me in the slightest.
The game appears to be short. That is the game's "fault" and not people playing it wrong.

Sorry I have to disagree. You're not exploring a game that's about exploration - that's not the game's fault. You just have a different taste.
I suggest you never buy Dishonored nor it's upcoming sequel - you'll hate that masterpiece.

Not really played the DC 3 times in a row in 36 hours and i made main missions + sidemissions + Pacifist and every time a higher difficult.

Started with Give Me a Challenge, then Give Me Deus Ex and then NG+ and Give Me Deus Ex
Ok i played before the Normal Version 4 times in over 50 hours, so i knew the most of the game but the different in the DC is that Missing Link is in it which give you a hard ♥♥♥♥ and is the hardest part.

The only way you need really long is if you want discover every route and i can say that in the 7 times i found in every playthrough a new route i didn't find before.

Edit: And yes you can see that i have every Achievement in the DC and i know i don't have them in the Normal Vesion because they are buggy at the time i played it. Since then i never played it again so i never archieved them.

Honestly with the entire NMS debacle I can't stand the "exploration" genre as is and this surely is not a game that is primarily about exploration.
Its good that people like you, who enjoy that, can do it but this is not what the majority of their fanbase is looking for.
"People are not playing the game right" is not a valid argument. Then the game was made badly.
And you are right, I absolutely hated Dishonored and I will not buy the sequel.

My first playthrough of DX:MD took me about 55 hours. For comparison, my first playthrough of DX:HR, which includes the DLC, took me about 47 hours. Despite what others may say, this is not a game you should run n' gun through; there's a lot to see and do.

Exploring around the city is not boring flavour stuff. Every sidequests, appartment, emails.. you find are more than flavour stuff they are all linked in some way to the universe and the main quest.
This game is not about following the main quest from waypoint A to B. It's about being creative beyond what the game tells you to do. I think there are enough game that forces you in a role without much freedom just running around stealthy or shooting your way from objectives to objectives.

If you feel like this is boring then maybe this is just the wrong game for you.

It all comes down to play style, as many others have alluded to. You'll get more out of the game if you look everywhere. There is so much detail, and hidden stories. I'm 39 hrs. in, a couple idle hours, and only on mission 5. There's so much to do, but again it all comes down to your play style and how invested you are into the world.

Every single game is full of falvour text these days. It is now expected. If you honestly think MD is any different in that regard you dont seem to be playing many games these days. And I doubt a significant part of the player base takes the time to read flavour text, in this or any other game.

I needed 61 hours to do the game plus the Jensen story mission and was still missing things.

I will be a 20-30 hour player.
It is a bit disappointing but if HR was around the same length then I think Ill be happy to be done with it in the end. Re-watching summary video in the beginning made me realize how (excessively?) convoluted the story already is.
