I don't go assault mode, so I have no idea about extra damage dealt by enemies.
Enemies are smarter? No chance. I fully doubt that is the case. The game has one AI as far as I can tell.
And oh...no mission markers! Makes the game so much better. I should have played on the High difficulty. Oh well, the DLCs are there. Probably play those on high then.
I wonder about the 4th (highest) difficulty though...how's it like?
Hmm I've been wondering difficulty I wanna do. HR My first time wasn't that hard (stealth). Wanted to do assault for once but I really like doing takedowns. Battery drain may just feel more annoying than challenging?

Hard+Permadeath.
Every mode is easy with stealth.
I believe most of us play without batteries, relying on the quarter of the bar which regenerates. I had a lot of batteries left in the last mission, some of which I used to walk invisibly towards the goal. Could have done it without that, but the timer thing made me nervous, and you don't know the layout the first time.
(I also did not discover the shortcut between the two final rooms, which trivializes the timer thing. So much for following quest markers.)
And yes, I relied mostly on that quarter regeneration unless I needed to go invisible. Eye vision Aug always consumed it back to the default level anyways.
