Deus Ex: Mankind Divided™

Statistiche:
What if the world would become like deus ex?
Just wondering what you all think, to be honest I think it is quite possible, augmented humans and all. Who knows what 2020's will bring :)

Let me know what you think guys
more like late 30´s early 40´s, with the "2050 initiave" and all, If you haven´t heard of it check it out, interesting stuff (though I think too optimistic in terms of timeline)

If you take away the augs factor - the world pretty much IS the same as Deus Ex if you look hard enough at the shadows...plus if you dig into transhunamism we are not that far off for that side of things too...

I think we're still far from DX world, but we're definitely on the right track, considering all investment and research in prostetic limbs and robotics and technology in general.

Who knows man maybe in the early 30's we already have augmented people? Technology improves really fast :)
I don't want to live in a world full of MTs and DLCs :rshocked:
well we kind of already are augmented, just not to the extent pictured in the game, I for once without eyeglasses or contact lenses would not be a very "viable" human being, point being we already augment ourselves and our lives with technology everyday and that relationship is getting more intimate with the passing of time. It is the question "when?" that in my point of view is more often misrepresented in media´s portrayal of this themes.
We still have major and very difficult milestones to overcome.

I would not exchange bodyparts for the simple reason that I am quite fond of my current ones. I dont care if they enhance abilities one way or another.
I'd love to be augmented.

RSI in both my hands and both my legs is very bad, and I'm only at 25 years of age. There's also the potential that I may have early on-set parkinsons, which is a nightmare.

If I could trade my legs and arms for augments, I'd be able to do incredible work for longer periods of time and not worry about the pain growing to become a disability.

I'd always be afraid of being taken over control of though.
Augments are a reality but to the extent that somehow all augments will involve getting hijacked by a wireless signal to turn you into a crazy killer, well that's hokey.

My eyesight kinda went to crap after kerataconus. Wearing contact lenses sucks.

I would definitely get my vision augmented if the technology was far enough along.
Well, We've 'already' got some people augmented bits, from early 'mechanical limbs', to antennae coming out of their heads, to people implacting magnets in their finger tips to 'feel' the electromagnetic fields of the planet.

I'd say if our civilization got it's ♥♥♥♥ together and spent more time 'progressing as a whole' rather than poisoning it with profit mongering, Social and political agendas, and religious 'invasion', We'd 'be' at Deus ex by the times implied in-game.

Politically speaking though, we're 'already there', just in an odd parody of the theme where the movements 'claiming to be marginalized and oppressed' are the ones propagating bigotry and oppression on others while demanding segregation and indoctrinating subjects in schools, while the media 'protects' their criminal activities. Which is roughly the opposite side of the spectrum from 'Augs vs normies' in Mankind Divided, where most of the criminal activities are fabricated or done by someone else and pinned on Augs as whole.

Either way it comes down to a society where the people in power are pushing 'separation and conflict' as hard as they possible can for the sake of personal profit or agendas, which is exactly where we are, both in the game and out of it.
People like Hugh Herr (MIT biomechatronics group) already create pretty good replacements for people that lost their legs, and there is great progress on the Modular Prosthetic Limb hands at the John Hopkins University (and other labs, just an example).

However, i think external augmentations are more likely to become mass products than the full mechanical replacements. So Body armor instead of internal armor, exosceletons instead of arm/leg replacement, HUD instead of eye replacement...

Tbh I think a world with augmented people would be beautiful but precautions have to be made and all.
