It requires the Tactical Pack DLC; also, it counts as one of the "hidden" / overloaded augmentations, so it won't show up until an (early) event occurs in the story.

When available, it's the top-right mod in the menu.

You get that only, if you pre-ordered the game I believe. It is on the first row of augs, if you do.

It is also an useless aug, unless you really want to maximize more than 2-3 weapons. I don't see me getting that one in a hurry, and later than the PEPS.

Thank you for the help guys :)!

It's incredibly useful if you're doing a combat-heavy playthrough, especially if you want to experiment with the new weapons rather than specialize early. Since dismantling can be done wherever, whenever, you can collect / dismantle the same gun repeatedly to amass hundreds of crafting parts almost instantly.

Just to be clear: it's definitely included in the Tactical Pack DLC, not a preorder bonus.

Actually it's only useful for speedrunners who don't explore then whine how the game is short.
Because if you explore you'll end up with at least 5 stacks of 999 crafting parts - unlocking the dismantling aug will be a waste of praxis kits.

Anyone who says its useless is an idiot. You can disassemble every item you pick up and walk the whole game in invisible mode. Just walk through enemy areas like its a stroll in the park.

Indeed. I only have to spend two points in hacking for robot and turret control, and I never have to be very concerned about my inventory. I never have to do the idiotic hacking minigame. I break all weapons down and make multitools. My inventory stays clean, I make megabucks selling the stacks of ammo and hacking utilities I can now hold, and I open every lock in two seconds.

It's the only one of the advanced mods that's even worth a damn. I max it out as soon as dufus fixes me up after the station bombing.

It's a great aug, especially combined with typhoon. Instead of picking up weapons you already have and only getting the ammo, you disassemble the gun in your inventory first, then immediately pick up to replace it. Use the parts to make heaps of typhoon ammo, hacking tools, and for weapon upgrades. Every dismantled shotgun is worth 2 or 3 typhoon ammos (3 if you invest praxis in making crafting cheaper).
BTW you can also rinse and repeat selling weapons to vendors, so again rather than picking up weapons you already have and only getting a bit more ammo, sell the weapons first and return to pick up replacements.
Note that (at least in the Jensen's Stories DLCs) you will lose your addons like laser sight by dismantling, so I just upgraded my pistol (addons and damage etc), and avoided dismantling the pistol.

You can't hold very many weapons even with a fully expanded inventory though. As near as I can see, you make more money selling all the stackable loot you can hold if you just scrap every weapon you get. I don't even bother, I just have my custom pistol and every other weapon I get I instantly scrap for parts.

There's shotguns worth a fortune very close to the arms dealer, and if you go through the extra trouble of knocking out every cop nearby as well, you'll be mega rich in no time.
Also, crafting nanoblade and tesla ammo with the max level aug generates even more money, and you can hold a lot of aug ammo stacks.
