yeah, that's what I'm afraid of... What I was asking is that if this achievement is actually achieveable without cheating. It seems like a false flag, red herring, what have you.... a carrot on a stick in front of a donkey which can't actually reach it.
Edit: Also, as a PC user, you have access to the save file cheat of making a backup of the save game. I never needed to use my backup, but I'm told dropping the backup back in the main save folder will let you get around the save deletion.
Any idea where the save file is located?
Thanks,
I can't believe the Deus Ex designers would actually put something like this into the game. Secondly, I'm ashamed that I'm actually contemplating trying to circumvent their idiotic mechanic in order to 'earn' this achievement.
It makes me feel dirty even thinking about it and well... I think I'm done with this game.
I love the Deus Ex universe, but this achievement is a fools errand.
I'm not amused, Eidos.
Hopefully future DX games lose the achievement, even if the mode is here to stay. Because otherwise that's going to hang over me like a cloud as I play the game, reminding me that my completionist obsession will make me dislike the game as I try to "finish" it. Replays should be for fun, not to complete a massive challenge that most wouldn't even attempt.
The premise is that every level can be completed stealthily without getting spotted. So just stay stealthy, and if you ever get spotted, reload the game (legitimately).
If you know the stealth routes, many of the levels are laughably easy. For example, GARM can be finished in about 5 minutes without any confrontation.
On the other hand, if you insist on shooting your way through every level, this achievement can be hard, I'd imagine.
I may give it one more go but this time I'll make manual backups of the saved game, as Jackkel Dragon suggests.
Dude...You can manually save the game in this difficulty an unlimited ammount of times. If the game freezes just reload the save next time you run the game. The freeze will not lock your save file. What will lock your save file is death. That's the only rule.
It's not that the achievement needs skill. It's just that it needs an extreme ammount of caution state, trial and error. That's why only 0,6% of players have it (myself included)
Prepare to reload your save at the slight alert sound you hear from any guard. Icarus landing, Full Cloak/Battery and Full Dermal Armor are a must to avoid any stupid accident.
Skip Cult of Personality (too many turrets), skip the third part of the golden ticket (it is easy to get caught in the migration office and the cops with machine guns will instakill you), and I think the bank heist is more safe than the machinegod. Be very careful in the first part of Prague, as there you can die easily. Later, you will have enough points to not die in dumb accidents.
Otherwise, it is Foxiest of the Hounds / Ghost on all levels, because you don't want to get caugt. If someone is alarmed, you need to reload. Oh and you want to use the killswitch on the boss.
Just use stealth.
For Augs, I'd definitely take Icarus landing at the Koller reset.
And lastly, patience is important, especially if you've already completed your Foxiest/Pacifist run. I got bored with stealth, and started shooting, and almost died in my run because of that.
