Lets speak about Prague
Hi guys

I guess there are not too much people here, because Deus Ex its not Call of Duty (fortunately). Still I wanted to ask about some opinions here. So Eidos decided to make Prague as city where most of events of MD are taking place. Not London or San Francisco or, I dont know, Paris, Toronto, Chicago... Berlin, Cologne... But Prague. Capital of Czech Republic. Its an Eastern European country (well, its actually kinda Central Europe but unfortunately no one cares anyway). The thing is that European country was selected as main location for AAA game and its not some world wide popular city. Its capital of post-soviet, slavic country, neighbour of Germany. I find this fact fascinating... Its ike after almost 2,5 decades from collapse of USSR (Im counting 'till the year when the game was released) rest of developed world finally spotted the rest of European countries! At least world of video-games industry. They finally got it. At last. Im from Eastern Europe by myself (well, from the Baltics, which is actually Northern Europe, according to official UN statement, but no one cares) and I think if I would be at place of Czech people I would be pleased about this fact. Its like, hey Eidos, thank you that you remember about rest of Europe/World! Also even Baltic region is mentioned in Deus Ex MD. Actually, city of Tallinn, capital of Estonia. Estonia is neighbour of Latvia, where I live, I was there few times, I absolutely love Tallinn.

And its aclso pretty boring when cities like London in every secong game, movie, tv series, book... Its boring and... And.. its like everyone is so fascinated by this cities that no one cares that there is rest of the world too! I was in London its a fantastic city but there so many other European countries, each and every one of them has its own fascinating places and interesting culture.
And today we are experiencing pretty good developement of Eastern Europe in videogames level (will not be talking about economics and rest of real world stuff here). Thanks to CD Projekt Red (how not to mention them first lol), thanks to Warhorse Studios (because Kindgom Come is a good game) and so on. All the world knows about Witcher today. And also world finally saw something else than England in game about medieval times (yes, Im referreing to Kingdoms Come again). So... Only for the fact that Eidos selected Prague for Mankind Divided I'm very very thankful to them. And they are even not from Czech Republic!

And what do guys think about all this? Do you like what is happening?
By the way before you will say that Prague maybe portrayed not so realistic or accurate in MD, I will remind you thay real locations are often portrayed in games by stereotipes and very accuruate portraying is rare. Also you must understand that Deus Ex world ita cyberpunk world. So I guess that real Prague dont have so many problems with guys like Dvali but world of Deus Ex is supposed to be grim and noir. Because its a cuberpunk. The fact that Czech government is opressing augs must not be taken offensive for Czech gamers. Czech Republic is not shown as "bad guys". Its jusy whole world if ♥♥♥♥ed in Deus Ex universe (well, kinda similar with real world) and because of all this social, religion ans phylosophical subtext we do love Deus Ex.

Im kinda sad that no one replied back to ya. Personally I find the fact that they those prague over many more popular cities makes it just more appealing and intresting to me. This just might be one of the first AAA v games which portray prague.

Hi Ive just read your post and i think the same. I myself am from a region of the world that is rarely portraid in games (south america) and in the last tomb raider, Shadow of the Tomb raider the game takes place mainly in Peru (i'm not even from Peru, i'm from Argentina) but its close to my country and i find refreshing that they choose that part of the world and they even give you the option to make the characters you find in that game speak in peruvian spanish (wit subtitles of course if you dont speak spanish) They even care to search for actors who speak with peruvian spanish accent, not other kind of spanish.

So im playing Deus Ex MD now, from these same developers, and i see again the same care and originality when choosing a location. I don't know too much about that part of the world (Eastern/Central Europe) but i find it very interesting, and now thanks to the game im even more interested.
