Still bad performance?
I stopped playing this game shortly after it came out to wait for better optomization. I have a i7 5820k, 2 x 1080 SLI, 64 gigs of DDR 4. My res is 3440 x 1440. I am trying to get a solid 100 fps and I put the graphics to high, shadows medium, no screen space reflections, 2 x AA... And the frame rate is all over the place. From 30 to 100 fps depending where I am...It's very jittery even if I lock it to 60fps. I don't get it, this engine isn't that speacial. Did they abandon it or something?

Should I use DX 12? I noticed the performance went up when I turned it on. Usually it makes things worse though. Is SLI a problem with this game? Should I turn it off?

The engine eats graphics RAM and is special in that regard. Use the benchmark available in the menu to try different settings.

I run it on a 1050 with 4 GB graphics RAM and I have medium-high settings for ~35 FPS (1080p). Which speed is your RAM? I have 8 GB of 3000 MHz.

Minimum 100 FPS is utopian for this game at this point in time, unless you sacrifice quality. Aim for 60 FPS and minimum of 40. The jumping from high to low FPS shows that something in the loading process is slow. So, if your RAM is much slower than the graphics-RAM, then you know what you need to do ;)

From the devs... in case you didn't see it:
- Turn off MSAA
- Turn off Contact Hardening Shadows
- Keep Volumetric Lighting to on or off
- If you have a 4GB GPU, keep settings up to High
- Keep resolution to 1080p
- Enable Exclusive Fullscreen
Just turn off msaa and play at 1080p. Your ram doesn't necessarilly need to be high-speed, but it should be extremely efficient. One complete kit of all same part numbers. Running in true multi-channel. Ultra-low latency so the data is being processed efficiently.

I actually downclocked my ram and lowered timings as far as I can. It works out perfectly for my fx9590. Then I used the extra thermal and voltage headroom to up my processor clock. The result was a near perfect game. You're probably going to want the opposite for your intel processor. You will bennefit from very-high bandwidth ram so make sure it's clocked 3000+.

Also some sli configuration will lower the pci-e bus down to 8x or even 4x. This wouldn't matter in most games. However, this game would certainly choke to death.

Top of Steam > help button > system information, copy and paste the log here and we can check if pci-e bus detection is there.

Use a single card.

1080p???? so for ultra wide thats like 2440 x 1080 or something? They can't be serious. How poorly optomized is this thing? I shouldn't have to over clock my ram to play this descently. It runs most game maxed out at 70-100 fps no problem.

FYI guys, I tried going to 1080p and completely turned off MSAA. Exactly the same peformance. This is just a broken game.

Pretty amazing that instead of fixing their games, some developers will be like, oh run it at a poor resolution and turn off all the extra effects WE PUT IN GAME.
Your pci bus is x8 like I thought.

Meaning what? They are definitely in the right spot.

They never fixed the CPU load in certain areas, it is what it is. Most of the time it's fine but it can get bogged down easily. Throwing more GPU power at it does nothing.

it's honestly not that bad - sure the engine is a bit choppier than more optimised ones but it's still playable. If you can't play it as it is, you're probably not that interested in playing it anyway.

This is my Mobo ... do I need to set something in the bios?

Well also after turning off MSAA I am getting a sorta stable 100 fps at 3440 x 1440 on high. That's not so bad compared to teh performance I am reading other people get.

Wow, it's like you were told to turn off MSAA in the first post, but you didn't and complained, then you turned it off, and now you have better performance, like, man, wow.

Pass me the bong.

Umm like wow. Like wow. Thanks for your input like, wow.

It's a bit more complicated then that. Besides I did say SORTA stable...As in it's SORTA better.

You won't get it to stick at or close to 100 all the time... You can add a bit to your minimum framerates by boosting CPU clocks. Or get an 8700k and z370 which will add +30% to any CPU bottlenecked areas over the 5820k.

No. I need to use this computer for work. Over clocking causes issues.

Its okay. i am not going to go out of myway just because one game is broken. I dont believe in piece meal upgrades. Especially with CPUS. I don't even think those CPUs will work with my mobo.

Next generation of CPUS and GPUS I will build something new. Next build anyway I am ditching SLI and getting the best CPU possible.
