DXMD: Why no way to side with government?
Just laid my hands on a better PC and got DXMD to see it in its beauty. And the game is great alright, but the plot is suddenly narrow, especially compared to DXHR (and FPS-like compared to first DX games).

More specifically, I did not find a way to just, errr, do your job as an international cop and completely side with Miller and TF29 and hopefully arrest those Vega / Janus guys. The game throws you some bones (like, you can give evidence to Miller instead of Vega) but nothing even comes out of it!

The DXHR gave you an opportunity to side with the ultimate bad guys in the end (at least in terms of the end cutscene). Here all the missions and choices (even side ones) are either "help the revolutionaries" or "do not help them" with no "destroy the revolutionaries". To me, it fits neither Jensen's character from DXHR (a guy who does his job) nor the story (who are those guys? why are they important? why are we doing what they say?)

What're your thoughts?

Definitely not.

That wouldn't make sense in the story. The premise, even before the game started (from the books) is you're already helping the Juggernaut Collective. Jensen was on their side from the start.
TF29 is also ran by Manderly, a lacky for the Illuminati. The post-credits scene shows Lucius DeBeers discuss Jensen's progress into funding Janus. This suggests Jensen IS working on getting to Janus, the Illuminati's approach is to just get Jensen to do it his way, as suggested by the end of the game with Jensen specifically saying he wants to know who Janus really is as he no longer trusts him.

Jensen doesn't take down the revolutionaries because he knows nothing about them, nor does the Illuminati and up until the endgame, Jensen was on their side.

The story can't be compared to either the original or HR, both of those releases are much deeper. That's the only thing that lets this version of DX down. However, ac_denton is spot on the money, you're already helping the JC before the game narrative begins, so to help the government/TF29 wouldn't make any sense
