Loss of Stun Gun!
I just ran into a bad guy with reactive armor which negated my stun gun!! WTH? The Stun gun is the primary weapon of a sneaker build!! Why did Edos do this?? Did they think they were being clever? I am now considering not playing anymore since this forces me to build a tank instead of a sneak totally ruining the game.

There is an upgrade to the stun gun called a tesla aug? Aug's are generally a PC upgrade not a weapon upgrade. Oh I know what you mean and no I have been planning for that aug but other augs seemed more important. So the Tesla Aug is not affected by reactive armor?

it works well for me. or put a silencer on the 10mm and use emp rounds

It seems to me that a 10mm silenced pistol always gives up my position, so stopped using it.

thats why i like the tesla, its quite, and takes down everything or at least slows them down nuff to get past them.

just punch the guy instead. you have to be pretty close to use the stun gun anyway. or maybe headshotting with the tranq rifle would work too.

or sneak past the person entirely.

EMP rounds, because the armored guys *cannot be stunned*. That's basically why there are different types of ammunition.

If by "reactive armor" you mean the Titan aug (surrounds the guy with a bunch of spike-looking shielding, then yeah, the stun gun doesn't work. The Titan aug is op and makes it's user pretty much impervious to anything. But, you shouldn't run into an enemy with it engaged unless you alert them by attacking or causing a ruckus. Also, there aren't many of them to be found.

On the other hand, if you're talking about the mechanized, armored police, the stun gun works equally as well as the pistol with EMP rounds. Approach them from behind and when close, fire a stun shot, followed immediately by a takedown. Works like a charm. But, you do have to be fairly close, for the move to work.

Don't give up. You can sneak through the entire game without using any weapons at all. You can complete all missions and side missions, using only a couple takedowns.

If I remember right, the only thing you can't take out with takedowns or the stun gun are drones. The key is that some enemies (exosuit cops and users of the titan aug) need to be hit by an EMP first. It's possible to beat the game with nothing but the stun gun and some EMP grenades (or even less if you simply skip enemies you can't KO).

The only "difficult" part of the game with this build is an enemy near the end of the game, who you have to sneak up on or he'll activate titan. Still very anticlimactic overall, since a stun gun from stealth followed by a takedown takes him out.

Short version of my response: This game is very easy to play in stealth without ever needing to fight. It's not like HR where you are forced to fight at some parts.

Also, bots and turrets.

Actually, Marchenko is super simple to take out, if you have the kill switch. :)

Well, I don't know if I'd say the game is "very easy". There are some tricky spots. Plus, it depends on how many of the side missions you want to do. A minimalist run IS pretty easy, though.

Key is, that nullifies Pacifist, so I left that out. He certainly is much easier that way, though.

I guess I forgot about bots and turrets because stealth and EMP grenades always were enough for me to take care of those, so I don't remember them much. And I suppose there are some difficult parts for stealth (depending on knowledge of the maps and augmentations), but doing a critical-path only stealth run (like I did for the "I Never Asked For This" mode) is really easy compared to HR and its mean boss fights. (Even the Director's Cut of that game was difficult to stealth, since the alternate win methods required both stealth and hacking augs to even attempt.)

Now, the DLC sometimes poses a real challenge for stealth. The heat camera drones of the first one and trying to finish the second one stealth/pacifist without drugs is rough.

That's true. For a completely stealthy playthrough, the killswitch wouldn't be an option. Still, the stun gun and takedown is pretty easy, too, if you can stay out of sight.

Yeah. I still have to do Criminal Past without taking the Fixer's pill. Problem is, I just can't stand the repeated red flashing on my screen through the whole mission. :/

I always thought the primary way to play stealthily was avoid all enemies, not just stun them. I vowed to only stun people who I could in no way sneak past...and ended up not using stunning a single person.
cyberwiz97 Aug 26, 2017 @ 12:37am
You're right, of course. In the true sense of the word "ghost", playing stealthily would mean avoiding any contact with enemies. I did a run like that too, just to see if it was possible to do all side missions without taking down (or stunning) anyone. Unfortunately, there are two (iirc) people you have to deal with, somehow.
