You probably have stupid trash settings in the Nvidia control panel, or a default power profile that limits your gear to 80% max capacity.
Could be many things, but they're all related to how you'ce configured your machine.
It could even be something as simple (since your don't have a K class processor) Nvidia's control panel defaults to your integrated Intel solution. Make a profile in Nvidia control panel, and work from there.
try check how much your cpu is under load when in the game.
Have you monitored the GPU/CPU usage during gameplay?
When I do with a GTX 970 and i5-3570K (all 4 cores at 4 GHz) and I see the framerate goes under 60, the CPU is the bottleneck.
Open power options and set it to high preformence.
If you are running Windows 7 make sure your cores are not parked. Park corse are bad for CPU intensive games like this one.
In Nvidia control panel make sure prefer high-performance is turned on
I started the game with all ultra settings since i can run everything else on ultra. Worked, but choppy. Cutting it down to Very High or High helped GREATLY.... but the AA is what wrecks framerate from everything i've seen/read. Honestly the game looks great even on medium without any AA..... anyway you can get it to run smooth should be OK. I MAY have read that the game is RAM intensive (i mean regular RAM, not VRAM... although it IS VRAM intensive for sure) so perhaps that could be an issue? Oh- just saw you're running 8GB of RAM.... with RAM being so cheap you might want to grab another 8GB stick (or 2 more 4GB sticks, whatever fits/matches) regardless.... it's so cheap and even if MD doesn't need lots of RAM, there are games that do.
Sorry- long winded. In short- definately NOT your GPU, that's more than OK, either CPU (more likely) or RAM (less likely but still possible). Just keep cranking down those graphics until it works in the meantime... it's a pretty sweet game from what i've played of it thus far.
