To answer the OP' question (or simply offer my opinion), perhaps to keep a little intrigue going on... Some people might be lazy enough to watch and search on other sites, simply indifferent about it or want to open everything on their own without spoilers (kinda like me).
130+ hours in game, third playthrough, STILL didn't open all achievements - probably should talk to Otar for once instead of stealing calibrator.
Besides isn't it nice to surprised by an achievement for once rather than getting it after looking at the requirements and making a calculated, carefully planned playthrough just to get it? Like, when you don't know which actions give achivements and which don't, then you play the game however you like rather than do the choices which give achievements, which imo is a rather bass-ackwards thing to do.
I look at it somewhat differently than you. Let’s take DX MD as example. Open achievements… for me they’re like challenges, they dictate how you should behave in certain situation to get them, thus somewhat limiting your freedom of choice (well, in case you’re mainly playing to unlock them and not simply ignore it for the time being).
For the example, The Last Harvest. Personally, I like to perform stealth take out on her and then speak with detective. Later I reloaded and searched for alternatives, for different ways to dealt with her. When I got the hidden achievement, that was nice surprise for me instead of fulfilling’s spoiler ;-)
Now that you mention it, avoiding spoilers makes sense. I hadn't thought of it that way before. Normally, in any game, I play with a sort of free style. I do what I feel like doing at any given time, not thinking about achievements, just following the flow of the game. I'll play through the game a few times before considering any trophies. I've never been much of a trophy hunter so that might explain my ignorance in this area. I appreciate your insight on the matter. Thanx guys.
