Deus Ex: Mankind Divided™

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided™

Everything that's wrong with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Any game for the PC these days immediately has me scrutinising it with a critical eye, trying to spot even the slightest misstep. So it is with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided that after noticing several glaringly obvious bugs/glitches/poor game design I decided to keep a list of everything that's wrong with the game...IMO.

1. Enemies have x-ray vision (they appear to be able to see through some walls).

2. Weapon sounds are weak.

3. Samizdat or Picus newspapers don't scroll properly (with mouse scroll).

4. As above, the same news story is printed twice in both columns.

5. E-Books have "next" and "previous" page buttons but all the text can be viewed on the first page.

6. You don't know what inventory items are unless you click on them and then it doesn't give you any details unless you examine them - this makes is hard to determine which ammo is for which weapon (at least at the start of the game while you're still unfamiliar).

7. You can't click on to select another inventory item adjacent to the one you've already got highlighted.

8. To move an inventory item you have to click once, then click and drag, then click again to drop - instead of just, you know - click and drag... "click and drag" Eidos - it's been around for f'ing ages.

9. Koller's new augments tutorial tells you what controller buttons to press to use them...when you're playing with keyboard and mouse (FFS).

10. NPC's say dumb things like "It's dark down here" when they're outside in bright sunshine.

11. Buy anything from a merchant and they tell you stop wasting their time (gee, alright mister I'm not buying anything from you again you ungrateful tosser).

12. Security cameras "cone of detection" shines through walls.

13. Turn off a television and the sound continues for two seconds afterwards.

14. The "suspicious locker in the courtyard down from TF29 with code 3874", mentioned in an email in TF29 headquarters, is not 3874.

15. Quickload is actually Slowload.

16. Vernon Wells, Director Miller's voice actor, cannot act.

17. An invisible police man stops Adam in Prague, the camera focuses in the wrong direction and the HUD vanishes and you are unable to continue unless you reload.

18. Some NPC's talk while drinking...through scarves.

19. Remove a crate with a mine on it and the mine continues to float in mid-air.

20. Angela Gunn's murder is reported by Picus BEFORE she's killed.

21. While navigating the map it has a tendency to jump to a random icon on the map for no reason.

22. If you talk to Edward Brod after validating his fake ID card Adam says he's hasn't validated it yet.

23. An NPC on his knees with his hands tied behind his back. All the cops in the area are either dead of knocked out. The NPC continues to kneel there...in the rain...talking to the police who aren't there.

24. Health shouldn't re-generate. I ended the game without EVER ONCE using a stim or painkiller. In fact I had to keep selling the damn things because they were taking up inventory space.

25. Augments HUD is clearly designed for a D-Pad. None of the icons display what F keys they're on and you can't bind F5 to 12 to use more of them (like the original Deus Ex...from sixteen years ago).

26. Gas mines immediately detonate after sticking them to a wall.

27. Some textures with text on them are backwards or mirrored.

28. Boring story.

29. Lazy-♥♥♥♥ piece of crap of an ending.

30. No government conspiracies.

31. No Illuminati.

32. No MJ12.

33. No rogue AI (the game is called "Deus Ex", from "Deus Ex Machina" aka "God from the Machine", make those words mean something Eidos).

34. Practically no fan service at all apart from Samizdat/Silhouette, right at the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ end.

35. Invisible War was better.

Nice necro.

I submit my hours played as the last word.
to the OP, i have these issues sometimes as well, I get too picky and I cant enjoy an amazing game. What i do to stop this from happening is i play games from other genres. If your bored by first person RPG's try playing something completely different. I had a while where i couldnt play any tactical RPG because nothing could compare to pillars of eternity. Every tactical RPG i played was crap to me. Then i played horizon zero dawn, and was blown away by how amazing it was, then far cry primal, and other games from that genre. Then i started playing metroidvania games, there are a ton of really amazing ones. After about 6 months of playing other genres, tactical RPG's were fun again. Now when i play a tactical RPG it feels fresh to me.

If you dont enjoy this game, then you may just be sick of the first person RPG genre. There are many amazing new(ish) first person RPG's, like fallout 4, deus Ex, kingdon come (im only guessing its amazing because it looks like it is). But being bored of the genre can make them seem bad. games from the same genre tend to be similar in too many ways, and it can become dull and boring. I hope this helps, and I hope you some day are able to enjoy this genre/game again because they are both amazing.
Im glad to see a fan of invisible war. I thought that game was so much fun when i was younger, and i never could understand the bad feedback

Because it's an incredibly poor game, with incredibly poor decisions and corner cutting everywhere. It was also one of the first ever console-to-computer games, and they had explicit orders to prioritize graphics above all else.

Contrast it to hitman: contracts, which released in the same commercial window.

Invisible war is also not a game that has 'bad feedback.' It's legitimately a bad game. The developers themselves have spent years talking about this.

the original deus ex was on ps2. Invisible war is still a pretty amazing game. If it was called something else people would probably adore it. Either that or the pc version had a bad port, because the xbox version was amazing. I havent played the pc version, I just bought it on steam to support the game

The real problem is that mr necro over here, funkynutz, puts question marks on statements.

The original deus ex was a PC game that got ported to consoles with very few compromises. It even had higher quality textures.

Invisible war is a console game made with the mandate that graphics>all else. It was built for the original xbox, which had massive memory limitations. Thus, all areas in the game are super tiny, and the level complexity became a joke. In one of the early missions, you break a scientist out of prison. He explains to you the difference between 'normal beam doors,' and 'yellow beams that kill you instantly.' Right next to the door is a vent that exits behind the uber yellow beam door. We're talking the vent crawl is at most half a meter. There's a Harry Potter magical ro- I mean a techno-lock on a table, so you can neutralize the magical yellow beam door. Right after this section, the level goes to a loading screen.

The idiocy that IW would be loved if it was called something else is disputed by EVERYBODY who made it, and a similar scenario already happened with a game called project: snowblind. It was originally supposed to be a deus ex game. It's not very good.
Why are we arguing about invisible war? idgaf if you dont like it. be as picky as you want. my post about invisible war wasnt a question or anything requesting a response. nothing you say will ever make me believe that game was bad, or deserves a bad rating. im honestly concerned about why you thought you would be able to, or would even want to. why should I be pessimistic? because you are? no thanks

I was just complimenting the OP on his taste in games.
#15 LOL YEAH!!!!!!!!! Thank You this game loads like ♥♥♥♥!

I've specificly defragmented my hard drive to have my entire steam library at the start of the partition and I still get up and go make a sandwich for load screens. I would expect this when you going from one area to another area but not for taking a damn subway ride to the other side of a street. The worst one was about half way through when there is no subway and hes just walking the damn tracks! Yeah Jensen thats right Walk, dont jog, or run, or even walk fast no just walk slow as you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ can thats right Jensen.
Ssd will help a lot, but yeah, it should be optimised enough to load in a decent time on hdd. Maybe yours is a particularly slow hdd though? 5400rpm maybe?

-So do you... You're not the only one in the game with augments you know?

I don't buy it.

FunkynutZ eredeti hozzászólása:
Nope. Not seen that one. Definitely reading different pages when I've been looking at the books.

When I played it it was in most of them.

FunkynutZ eredeti hozzászólása:
I just click and drag?

Didn't work for me.

FunkynutZ eredeti hozzászólása:
I haven't had any controller prompts... Try unplugging your pad.

It was unplugged.

FunkynutZ eredeti hozzászólása:
Are you sure it's the NPC you're looking at you can hear?

Yes.

FunkynutZ eredeti hozzászólása:
Not seen that. I've seen it shining through gaps in fences, between objects etc (as it should be).

Might have been patched.

FunkynutZ eredeti hozzászólása:
Erm.... No?

Well it does.

FunkynutZ eredeti hozzászólása:
If it's the same one I'm thinking of... His hands aren't even actually tied.

Well that's even worse then.

FunkynutZ eredeti hozzászólása:
No?

Yes. I'd post an image but it was a year ago I played this and it's not currently installed.

FunkynutZ eredeti hozzászólása:
They're in there.

Where?

FunkynutZ eredeti hozzászólása:
Haven't seen any yet...

Because they're aren't any.

1. To me this is part of the AI not being the really dumb

2. Not in my ears

3. Hmm, had no trouble with them

6-8 Yes, this is bad, the inventory is not really that responsive either. The original deus ex had better but I'm not moving anything around in the new games other than when I upgrade something.

10. In just about any game yeah

11. Yes, especially the first one you meet is in constant bad mood

12. Never noticed on DX12. I'd like the effect to look a bit softer too

13. My TV turns of ambilight a bit later after the screen. No biggie.

16. I think he did alright, the biggest problem is that the faces are really lousy still

17. Never seen

18. Common AI problems

20. Scheisse, how did they know?

21. Haven't experiences but zoom out is too slow

23. Yeah, that should be fixed, or maybe they just like complaining?

24. I'm fine with this, Adam is not a normal person. It's perfectly plausible this game that for instance nanobots with stemcells can heal wounds and even prevent infections

28. Story is fine, I loved what it leads up to. You're not even Adam Jensen anymore, programmed to meet Janus?

29. The ending mission is great but timed missions blow. Don't force people to play a stealth game fast. The only reason the clock should be ticking is if the player is noticed and the alarm goes off.

31. No illuminati? Did you play it? It's not that they are supposed to be so easy to detect either. This story is less Hollywood than the previous games

32. Do we need MJ12 too?

34. Bob Page, Morgan Everett...names which people do not quite understand how important they are yet if they have not played the original classic

35. Oh bloody hell no, it sucked. Braindead AI, shoebox size levels, bad audio quality, silly physics, loading screens in every corner, same ammo for everything.

For slow load screens, purchase a SSD. I tab out and read something on the net for a few secons as the game keeps on loading.

Ok, my gripes.

-Too much hacking just like the previous game. It's an OK:ish mini-game but it's bloody everywhere.
-I want a full first person mode, with leaning around corners.
-The takedown animations still looks awkward because if a person lies on the floor he suddenly stands up for the takedown. It should be done in real time in the next game, but at least the civilians are not fighting back like they are some Bruce Lee champs
-When taking down two AIs I proceed to shoot one with an electric shock and press the takedown button facing the other but the game can choose the electrocuted AI instead, this makes Adam look quite dumb
-Social aug makes it perhaps too easy
-Why does he still destroy some vents quietly loudly. It doesn't have to be Batman slow in removing them but punching, c'mon!
-As already mentioned the idea of a timed mission in a stealth game is not a good thing

=
Overall it's one of the better games in the last 5 years. Stealth, action combined with a cerebral story which I think goes way beyond classic movies such as Blade Runner.
im also a jaded 40 yr old gamer and Deus ex was one of the first FPS's, along with Half life, that I played on the PC and had me hooked on pc FPS ever since. This game is a disgrace to FPS's. Human revolution was pretty darn good, not perfect but at least the FPS controls were spot on from what i remember. Now this game comes along and they introduce some wicked silly stupid cover system which they should have just liscensed from crysis 2. I mean swithcing weapons is even clunky, iron sights CLUNKY.....wtf? Get the basics right or don't make the game.
