Hacking is essential, also jumping high, breaking wall is good, they gave you access to interesting places :)

At first, get the augs that allow you better mobility ... lift heavy objects, jump higher, punch through walls. You can explore more areas where you'll find more stuff. As you progress through the game, get remote hacking, too (plus hacking domination). From there, what you get depends on your gameplay style. The choices are many. With nano blades, Cloak and Icarus Dash, the Micro-Assembler aug will keep you in crafting/weapons parts so you can replenish blades, multitools and biocells whenever you need them, rather than waiting to find them or buy them from a merchant.

It's an RPG. You buy stuff you think you'll use and base purchases around a rough character build of sorts.

If you battle guys head on always, the cyber weapon affinity upgrades, extra HP, faster regen, rhino armor, and lethal typhoon are good. If you're a silent assassin kind of guy, more energy, cloak, and projectile nanoblade are good. So on, so forth.

Universally useful augs are smartvision, klipspringer leg upgrade, icarus, carry weight III, super strength, and hacking 5.

Battery augs are a must.

Energy is quite rare in this game, and doesn't self-replenish.

As with everything else in DeusEx, which augs are "best" depends mostly on the type of your run. Stealth needs stealth augs, hacker needs hacking augs, and shooter needs -you guessed it- shooting augs :steamhappy:

So, although you could probably benefit from health/battery augs, no matter what your game run is, you should plan and augment accordingly: if you're going for stealth, then armor, reticule-related and even health augs are irrelevant. On the other edge of the spectrum, if you're going for Serious-Sam type of game, then ditch everything else, max out health, armor, aim and regen, and let loose.

Remote hacking (both upgrades) and the cloaking were pretty much my most used augs. In general I'd say go for augs that provide utility rather than offensive power. There's not much need to go for 10 different ways to hurt the enemy, but being able to have extra options to sneak around and get by without fighting is always useful (though interestingly enough, I've gone through the whole game without getting upgrades to picking up heavy objects or jumping high). Also passive upgrades to basic things are also very useful (energy, health, hacking, inventory space).
