Turns out it's the resolution that causes crashing. If I lower the resolution it does start up.
So 2560x1600 doesn't currently work.

euh... si je ne dis pas de bêtise ca n'existe pas le SP2 pour seven. Ya pour xp et vista mais il me semble que le dernier update de seven reste le SP1. De toute facon je n'ai pas de souci que se soit au lancement ou ingame sur mes autres jeux. Que ce soit des jeux nextgen ou même des vieux jeux support cd ( ex: freelancer ) donc je doute que le souci vienne directement de ma machine ^^'

Nothing changed for me :( I still cannot run the game in 1280x720, getting APPCRASH after loading screen.

for me it works if in 1080p on win7x64 if i disable fullscreen.

i was about to post with similar crash issues, attempting to play at the recommended 720p, but apparently once i pick a higher resolution it works, 1280x800 or higher seems to be fine (windowed at least)

Hi guys,

I have exactly the same problem. Outcast crashes right after the loading screen.
My system:
XMG P304, i/ 4710MQ, Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
It doesnt seem to matter if I dsable VSync or running the game in fullscreen or windowed.

But:
It seems that it depends on the resolution I select. All 4:3 resolutions seem to work (allthough my display has a native resolution of 1080p) and all the 16:9/16:10 resolution let the game crash.
The highest resolution I can select is SXGA (1280x1024) or lower 4:3 ones (e.g. 800x600, 640x480 ....) All higher resolutiions let the game crash.

There are two exe files in the installation directory of outcast:

outcast 1.1.exe
I think this is only the game launcher GUI.
OC1.1exe
This should be the game exe, isnt it?

So lets set the compatibility mode:
outcast1.1.exe:
let the application crash immediately on start.

OC1.1.exe:
Nothing happens. The game doesnt launch at all. The launcher app dissappears, a few seconds nothing happens abd then it jumps back to the launcher programm without any notice or error message.

Crashes in Windows 8.x and Windows10 too.... (I changed compatibility to Win9x but nothing works)

Bonjour. Le jeu ne se lance toujours pas et j'ai toujours le même message d'erreur.
j'ai déjà clean le pc ( antivirus/malware/etc ) et j'ai désinstallé / réinstallé le jeu mais ca ne change rien.

As-tu essayé le mode de compatibilité Win98/Me ?
Quel est ton OS? Quel est ton CPU? :)

Qu'entends tu par launcher? Comme j'ai dis dans les messages précédent à aucun moment je ne peu accéder au menu du jeu ou quoi que se soit. Je click sur "play" de la platforme steam, une fenêtre steam s'ouvre me disant que le "lancement de outcast se prépare" puis plus rien. 30 secondes plus tard j'ai un message d'erreur windows qui me dit que outcast 1.1 a cessé de fonctionné.

j'ai essayé en essayant win98 via le exe. du jeu du dossier steamapps / common / de steam
mais rien. Mais rien dans le sens ou j'ai pas de message d'erreur mais le jeu ne se lance pas non plus ^^
- J'ai windows 7 pack 1 ( yen a pas d'autres ) et intel core i-5 4570 - 3.20ghz

Your config is pretty standard

It seems like some redistributables are missing or failed to install which cause the launcher to crash.

Have you tried to manually install the redistributables located in 'steamapps\common\Outcast 1.1\_CommonRedist' ?

i did nothing manuallly. in commonRedist i have 3 files. Directx , Dotnet and vcredist.
