The only difference between them is the symbol you just mentioned, just so you can differenciate between them. The symbol doesn't mean anything, it's just a symbol.
When you use an F-Link you drop off a tiny part of it on the ground.
The control uniy you keep with you, and it is moved to a different part of the inventory. If you later take out this control uint and use it you are instantly teleported to the little part you dropped on the ground (and it's automatically picked up).
You have three F-links that you can put out at various locations that you might want to get to quickly.
In Shamazaar I kept one in the village, one near the three temples in the norteast, and the third for whatever might come.
The only negative with these is that when you teleport you must immediately use it again to set the teleport point back on the ground if you want to get there fast again.
Warning: If you move over the tiny part that drops off of the F-Link you will pick it up.
With your explanation i found out now the meaning of the symbols. If you drop i.e. an F-Link with stripes down, then there will appear a control unity with the same symbol at another place in the inventory. The only thing you have to remember is the special symbol of your different arrival platforms. Writing it down on a paper will be helpful, like in good old adventure games ;-)
Nice that it took me about 15 years to get over this. No time at all :)
i can't find number 4 and 5. According to a post at steam (see my first post above) they can be purchased from the violet dressed merchants in Okriana. I looked for that at all 5 or 6 merchants, none of them had an F-Link. Is this random?
The purple-robed Talans are divided according to the boks. So there should be only one in the meat bok. He is in the middle of a house.
I don't think it is random, because I recall values about this in the Outcast.ini file.
