PD Howler and Anim8or
Since there is a variety of developers here, some quite well established already with great skills in advanced 3D tools like Lightwave, Maya or 3DS Max, others just beginning, and looking for a suitable 3D tools to accompany PD Howler, perhaps Blender? Perhaps Carrara? .... I thought it would also interest some to learn about Anim8or.

I've used Anim8or to create a few sample and simple models, you'll see a few examples of artwork where 3D models were created in Anim8or and rendered and saved for example as PNG with alpha for transparent background, then used as Custom (image) brush in PD Howler. From there, a lot more can be done, to use it as background imagery and various compositions. I thought it might be inspiring to see some examples.

If you use Anim8or and PD Howler together, please post samples in the galleires and mention them here.

If you didn't know: Anim8or is a free 3D program created by Steve Glanville. Steve also works at Nvidia.

I have a few samples and links to resources on Anim8or here: http://www.thebest3d.com/anim8or

Steve's main site is http://anim8or.com/

Here is one that may be particularly interesting for you if you want to learn more about making custom brushes in PD Howler.

I'm newb to 3d modeling, but there's also mixamo fuse that would be interesting, not exactly for modeling, but quick character generation :)

Oh awesome, thanks for sharing, will check it out. There's also Sculptris, great for modeling your own monsters, if you can't afford Zbrush, Sculptris is free. (with email registration). Curvy 3D available here at Steam too is not a bad option either. And there is of course, for human figure creation, the free tool called 'Make Human' --- Makehuman is open source. Free. pretty interesting. Perhaps not for making all types of monsters. But if you also use Blender, for example, a quick start.

On the Anim8or website, the latest news dating to January 2014 indicates that there's a game named Space Slice that uses Anim8or. If anyone reading this has comments about Space Slice, please post your feedback

More on Anim8or: I have a short playlist with a few tutorials here, some on just Anim8or and some on a mix of Anim8or and Dogwaffle.
