Avoiding any potential spoiler-type discussion this is the scenario you'd be looking at:
And with that wish, you would die because while you are granted all those things, you lack the will to utilize said knowledge, the fortitude to survive the poisoning you're about to get from Galene (who just made hemlock potent enough to eventually kill a Jinn), and the ability to channel the high amount of power you just requested.
Those are just the loopholes to the wish I could come up with from looking at it on the face. We're talking about Jinn wishes here. The more simple the wish (and rules) the harder it is to create a loophole in wording.
"the fortitude to survive the poisoning you're about to get from Galene" - did you miss the easily and with no risk part?
"and the ability to channel the high amount of power you just requested" - see above.
The Jinn is already dead, he can't twist wishes anymore. And any simple wish can be twisted as well. "I wish you dead" -> extinction scale event hapens, everyone in the world dies.
I didn't say a simple wish cannot be twisted, just that the simpler the wish the harder it is to twist. It's somewhat like contract law that way.
Limiting the scope of the wish was what was necessary to the story, so that is what I presume happened. An OP wish of the type you proposed would be just as exploitable and would have failed to solve the imminent issue, so it is what it is.
Yeah exactly. At the end of the day the MC is only human and they have had a rough few days. By this stage in the game its only three or four days since they found out 1) They were possessed by a demon 2) The supernatural is real and surrounds us 3) Their old life is gone and they are wanted by the police as a mass murderer.
They just killed the leader of the only group that could offer them sanctuary and understand what they have been through. I doubt most of us would be up for cleverly wording wishes in that situation.
