What's new in this "2015 Edition"?
I already have this game in an old CD and I really loved it. There's something new in this version or is it exactly the same than the old one?

GoG sells the "2010-Edition", which is also running natively on Windows. No DosBox on the GoG-Version...

But the Question is still interesting: Whats the Difference between 2010 and 2015-Edition? Cloud, Archivements... Thats it?

2010 Edition? There is a world outside of Steam? What is this magical GOG you speak of? It must have DRM, and can't have offline installers. That sort of thing would be preposterous.

Both 2010 and 2015 are native ports. If you want the original DOS version you can get it from 3D Realms[3drealms.com] (pre-packaged with DOSBox).

Me too. Almost to the point of irrationality. Even if a game "resets" every time you exit it, I still appreciate having that Steam Cloud icon smiling back at me.

I think you may have a problem...

Okay... so this version... is basically the same as the previous except for som HQ filters and resolution (which can be tweaked with Dosbox' The main difference being the older version will run on my XP box and this new version won't. Well.. thank heaven's for GoG

Actually, the previous version was Raptor 2010, and it already had the "HQ" filter and the resolution stuff.
The only difference between this version and that one is support for the Steam platform.

I remember playing the shareware demo of this years and years ago. Pretty sure it was the first game I bought on GoG too when GoG started out. It's an amazing game and I love it to bits, but I really don't need another version of this game considering all they added were achievementsl and well, tieing it to steam. Maybe in a sale. But if there are people who don't own it, or never played this game it's worth a buy.

GOG version is also DOTEMU and runs natively, not on DOSBOX, still no real options to set resolution on either version though, what a shame.

Yep, kinda dumb they called it "2015 edition" and the only new thing are the achievements.
Might have just released the 2010 version or whatever and say it has added achievements.
No need to switch from my GOG version : /

A new sector or something after all this time would be a blast! :D

What miffs me more about this is that it excludes XP users... Also the reason for the 2015 edition could be from product diffrentiation.

There is one other difference. When you save your game, Raptor 2015 creates a new file, instead of overwriting the old one.

- Still no force feedback (1999 edition apparently had it)
- Runs scaled to 1280x800 max. Scaled, not native resolution
- You can apply a "HQ" filter that'll smooth things slightly. Still looks blocky
- Some of the menus are still kinda cumbersome if you only use a controller. Have your mouse and keyboard ready

This is one of my childhood favourite games, and I'm all for preserving the original, but seriously:
Are they gonna Re-re-re-release this game in 2020 as well, call it Raptor 2020 Edition and add Steam trading cards or whatever? There is literally NOTHING NEW (except achievements).

I am both disappointed, and terrible aggravated by this.

The 2010 version is a terrible port, I know because I played the original, and got the game recently on GOG along Raiden series, I was actually confused when I saw this game on STEAM today branded as the "2015" edition, but if achievements are THE only thing new with this game, I have to say it is a lazy re-re-re-release!

They should have fix the ridiculous resolution settings, apply a filter that doesn't look as if I was running the game on Zsnes, fix the controls because you could mix both keyboard AND mouse in the 90's version, worst of all the music is WORSE in the 2010 version, Raptor 2010 uses a low quality Midi versions which ruins the amazing soundtrack of this game.

I am hoping dotemu used some public domain song for the trailer because if they dared to change the soundtrack to some generic wub wub dubstep trash I'd be hella mad, but if what I read is correct then it is the buggy 2010 + achivements

And the game is practically abandonware, there is no excuse for this.
