NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT (2x, SLI), driver version 6.14.13.0142
2 GB RAM
Screen resolution 1920x1080 (game starts and freezes windowed)
Avira Free Antivirus
Realtek AC97 Audio
OpenAL installed (from the game directory, I also downloaded it manually after I encountered this problem)
DirectX 9.0c
The computer I got it working on is an Asus eeePC 1000HD running WinXP Home with all Service Packs and updates, also Avast antivirus, no firewall, no nVidia card, and really nothing special. The hardware specs are here: http://www.cnet.com/laptops/asus-eee-pc-1000hd/4507-3121_7-33444610.html
And it runs. It just works. I guess I just gotta upgrade to Windows 7 on my PC and see if it works then. Been putting it off for way too long, and Steam Big Picture is another benefit. ;)
I'll let you guys know how it works once I get on Win7. Meanwhile I have no clue how to get it working otherwise.
It's pretty hard to say what's causing the problem, and I believe the software's creators won't be able to do much unless they can reproduce this problem on their machines AND manage to track down it's cause...
Have you tried running the game on different computers or a different operating system?
Maybe try it on a virtual machine (virtualbox perhaps)?
This helped for me too! Zarkhas probably has the solution for all the XP sp3 users! Thanks Zarkhas!
