A bug with dad

This has happened to me twice thus far, and I wonder if this has happened to anyone else. When the dad says he needs to check if I am studying, I hear him coming, but he walks in one place in the hallway and doesn't come until maybe a minute or two later. Has anyone have this happened to them?
