Ship max stock?
Is there a way to prevent a ship from buying more than X number? I'm trying to create a route, but everytime I get the no destination error. After some search, I found that when the ship can't do the transation, the error occurs. I'd like to put a number of max stock, just like the trading office.

The only thing you can do is unload all and then pick up the amount you want.

You may also want to set up routes in a specific way, that avoids certain issues. Here's a trade route example I posted some time ago:

The first stop is completely empty, that prevents the bell sound. The second unloads everything into my warehouse, or attempts to sell. Third stop is loading something on the ship, or sells. Fourth-fifth, rpeat in another town.

I do not exactly know what you mean, but first of all you must have a trading office in the town you want to trade with, I suppose you have that. Secondly you mark how much you want to buy, is there ssomething special like furs for instance, you mark max and you put furs on top of the list, is there something else in the citylike iron ore, mark the amount or also max. The ship will load the first item that you want at the price that you want to buy, eventually till no space left and load nothing else , is there still place on the ship the second item will be loaded. If you have a convoy it will be easier, but I never had a ship that took more than it could have, so I don't think the error is in loading

On the trade route screen for a particular city you have a column of goods. To the right of that are oblong buttons, then a column of "-" buttons a square box that you can type in a number, then a column of "+" buttons. Next is a column that specifies the max price if you are buying and minimum price if you are selling or nothing if you are dropping off or picking up cargo, Next a column of "-" buttons for price, a square to type in the price, and a column of "+" buttons for price.

If you want to buy from the town click the oblong button until you get the blue icon with 2 houses and a left pointing arrow, if you want to sell click the oblong button until you get the orange icon with 2 houses and the right pointing arrow. (If you just want to pick up or drop off cargo from your trading office and warehouses then its a blue button with a crate and left arrow or an orange button with a crate and a right arrow. These buttons won't appear if you don't have a trading office in that town).

Next is quantity. If the square box says 0 you can click the "-" button once and it will switch to the word max or you can click in the square box and type in any number from 0 to 9,999 or use the + and - buttons to change the numbers. The Price column works the same way except there is no MAX option for price.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can use this knowledge in combination with the trade posts buying and selling abilities as well. For instance lets say that you want to pick up as much timber as possible from Luebeck so you select the blue crate icon on the convoy trade screen to pick up the maximum amount of timber in your warehouse in Lebeck BUT you have brick works, workshops and pitch makers in Luebeck that need timber to produce that you don't want to stall.

In the trade post screen there is an identical set of buttons and boxes the same as the ones for the convoys BUT there is an extra column of blank buttons to the right of the "+" buttons for amount. Type in the amount of timber that you want to make sure to keep in Luebeck and click the blank button and a red check mark will appear. This means that the trading office won't sell to the town or allow your automated trade ships to pick up timber if you have that amount or less in your warehouse.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only other time you will have an issue with this is if your automated trade ships have no cargo space left. The ships won't pick up anything if they are all ready full.

Actually, no, I haven't. I just ordered the ship to buy at City X for a low price and sell at City Y for a higher price. But I'm seeing now it is better with the trading office.

Well, you can set a max amount you want to buy per city, but not set a condition where if the boat has 20 skins, it will not buy more skins.

You can make it so the trade routes buys 20 in city 1, 20 in city 2, and then you end up with a max amount of 40 for a full rotation on your trade route. If you don't manage to sell or unload your goods, your boat will accumulate more and more through each rotation. This is when you have to play with the prices, or unloading in 1 city.

Use trading offices to solve this problem as described above.

BTW i just made a guide you might want to check it out ''Compilation of tips'' :)
