0xc0000142 Error

I am having 0xc0000142 error when trying to test the resolutions at the begginning. Any help?

EDIT: Here is the solution:
You gotta exclude both PatricianIII.exe and P3Setup.exe from Data Execution Preventation by:

Right click Computer > Properties > Advanced System Options > Performance > Data Execution Preventation.

Okay i solved it. You gotta exclude both PatricianIII.exe and P3Setup.exe from Data Execution Preventation by:

Right click Computer > Properties > Advanced System Options > Performance > Data Execution Preventation.

It didn't work for me. Is there any other way? I even put every executable in the data execution prevention and still gives me the same error.

edit: I spoke too soon. The error has disappeared, but the game cannot be played. Most functions are disabled. For example, when I click on the Tavern, I have no options. The same goes for all buildings and ships.

I tried excluding both .exes from Data Execution, but it didn't work (I also installed the resolution mod), if anyone finds a solution to this, please post it.

I've been trying for hours. Tried every trick suggested in the guides and youtube. I get the 0xc0000142 error. If I try to launch the P3Setup from the directory, it tries to launch the first test and then crashes to desktop. This game has always been pretty iffy on a modern system, but looks like it's finally down for the count. :(
