My best savegame so far
I first played this game in 2004 I think and I was fascinated back then. Since then, I played it from time to time, always starting new saves. Never played the campaign, only sandbox.

This is my best save so far. My company is worth almost 60 million gold, while I have over 40 million in cash. I have 57 ships and over 90 businesses and a lot of houses. I have three huge convoys (6 Hulks each) which I use for expeditions (selling Skins, Iron Goods and Beer).

I have been the mayor of Stockholm for 8 years now, and Alderman 3 years.

I love this game, especially the economic aspect. I never do pirate battles, I only focus on trading and businesses.

I've spent approximately 10 hours on this game, and here is a screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/3YUDTSG.png

You should try a "single" game with your goal as a Hanse population of 200,000. Its a different kind of challenge but its based on economics. You might like it.

Congratulations! Iron goods are easily exploitable though. In my recent playthrough I'm going heavily for potteries and it's very difficult to make profits. Same for other goods like beer or less common materials like hemp or skins (if you focus only on these type of goods) Oh, and I have lost two crayers like a noob because I have never tried manual combat until yesterday. Four or five years have passed in game and my balance is only 180.000 at the moment.

You are supposed to go for all goods, though. The game doesn't really support specializing in a single good.

Well, that's true.

I think you wrote a mistake, this can't be done in 10hrs of course. Some other remarks, you have 40 million in cash with only 57 ships and 90 businesses? I have only 88 million in cash with 543 ships and 2333 businesses with 55267 workers.....

2333 Businesses is really impressive.
Thought im pretty good with my Company but it seems that i dont spend enough of new Businesses lol. Only have 712 Businesses, but 123 million in cash and a company Value of around 165 million. Ships only 234 and many of them just captured pirate snaikkas or crayers.
