Turn off pain mode?
so i'm right now in area 2 and I just realized i've had pain mode on and this is my first run-through. Is there any way I could switch it back? The fights are becoming crazy hard and i'd rather save it for a 2nd playthrough

Im sorry, there is no way to turn it off.
But in the next update im making it more clear that u can enter pain mode or normal mode.
ohhhhh okay, thank you! would it be better ending wise to beat it normal mode or just continue pain mode for first time playthrough?

Not sure if you may already have considered this, Dingaling, but along with making the choice clearer, maybe add an additonal "are you sure? Yes/No" prompt for entering pain mode as well, to prevent anyone from accidentally picking it?

Yes, this is definitely an issue. They give you the option of Pain mode as the first option, without any explanation about how that affects the game. First time I didn't know, so in area 2 I had to start a new game, and sped through conversations, but the Pain Mode option is at the top and it doesn't ask if you if you're sure so I have to restart again because i selected it on accident (I'M JUST TRYING TO GET THROUGH THE DAMN CONVERSATION)! I haven't even had the chance to get deep into this game and already I'm sick of it.

Not sure when the last time you played is, but it says something like:

Yes (Pain mode)
No (Normal mode)

So it's a fairly clear difficulty setting i thought.

Please just reverse the options in the dialog box... I've now run through the (unskippable, which is another thing you could change) intro THREE times because the first time I closed the game before the first save, thinking it would autosave, and now I've hit Pain Mode twice trying to spam through all the dialog.

^seconded. Running through the intro again right now.

Still valid concerns. I never got why the game is luring you into the Pain Mode like this, b/c it will just repel players.

the npc has a whole conversation with you about it before you pick it. . .the only way i see someone "accidentally" picking it is of they are just blindly clicking through dialogue without reading.

although, there is a legit criticism to be made there, in that pain mode is presented at the top of the list, as if it is the "default" option and it should have been listed second.

instead of
"pain mode
normal mode"

it should say
"normal mode
pain mode"

There's more to it imo. Image you're chosing Pain Mode and realize your error soon after, You decide to start over again. There's not way to skip the lengthy intro, besides hammering the "confirm" button to speed up dialogs. It's not unlikely that you actually select Pain Mode by acccident again, increasing the frustration even more. Even the quirkiest or moodiest introductions can wear off very soon this way,
