How do you even beat this guy and his gang? I've only managed to take ou the guys on the right and then get my ass wrecked. I've even tried using those bottles filled with flamable liquid and get the same results.

Just be a higher level, he is beatable. It's just a case of he's quite strong for the level you usually are around that bit, So my best bet is to train & take advantage of status effect causing attacks (If you've got headslide, I reccomend using that).

Well that sucks considering I accidentally overwrote my save file when entering the town. I do have headslide, though.

Headslide is pretty radical, hits all foes & causes Tripping. Though if you can't beat'em, can always sell some junk until you've got enough mags to pay'em off without them killing everyone.

Status ailments and AoE attacks definitely help a lot, as mentioned above. I'd especially focus the main guy in the center with any ailments, since he's got the most HP, and tends to deal the most damage. If you have any firebombs, those can help make the fight a ton easier, especially if you found the 3 hidden Diesel Firebombs near Rando's camp (only accessible after getting the bike). (While Diesel firebombs are rare, I also found them more useful in this fight than any other). Even if you've only got normal firebombs, they can still help a lot, especially if you use a few of them. You can even use multiple in a single turn, and get a couple of them dead pretty quick.
