It's all luck in the end.
I like roulette, but it definitely should have been introduced later due to too few party members in the beginning. As for RNG, i kind of like it. You really don't know if you're going to lose a party member or not.
I agree that it should've been introduced later, though. But, hey, I still think it's great fun.
I agree with Dejojo on this one.
Also, this part is specially ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up if you play it at Pain Mode...
Can anyone confirm either of these?
It doesn't take out the gravitas of the narrative, quite the contrary, you have to continue with the loss of some of your party members you have made a bond.
Next time I used Rage, Terry, and Crying Guy (can't remember his name Ferdy or something) and won 3 in a row. >_>
Totally random I would guess. I tried to test this after I won 3 in a row and used my 3 highest luck characters, and I gave them accessories that raised their luck and they still lost. Rage with the Broken Flower (raises luck like 10 points that Brad starts with) had 104 luck and lost on the first pull of the trigger. When i won 3 in a row I used Terry and someone else with lower luck, and they all won with around 40 luck.
As for losing guys...at this point in the game most of these guys aren't that great anyways so it's not a big deal. You probably only have a couple who are even above Level 10-12 and that's if you were grinding some XP earlier. Not to mention that most of the guys I picked up by then had similar skills so they were redundant.
Based on the Achievements there are like 20 more characters you can get so losing a few of these doesn't matter much. Besides...you could wait on getting most of them too until after this part next time you play. >_>
As for what it does for the game, it really did feel random in who died (though I didn't experiment with Luck stat boosting) and the mandatory three rounds felt really vicious at times, but I think that definitely contributed to the absurdly hopeless atmosphere that's important to Lisa.
