Why is Garth so lame?

Am I doing something wrong or is he naturally a bad character?

I never used him much since he didn't stand out as particularly great to me either, but looking at his skillset, he definitely seems usable; he's just a full support character, is all. Buffing an ally's attack isn't bad at all on someone who's more damaging (though certainly not as strong a boost as something like oil), and he can poison, which is a decent contribution for boss fights (so long as he's the only one on your team that can so, anyway). Looks like the stuff that would make him more consistently useful comes at later levels, since then he'll be able to both heal and deal a lot of status ailments. If those status ailments can be inflicted at a high rate, then be may be really good, since he can inflict confuse, stun, sleep and scare.

To me, Garth seems like he'd be a good support, though also seems like he'd pale in comparison to Bo for that purpose, since Bo also has spammable AoE healing (Garth lacks healing completely) along with full party healing of ALL debuffs/ailments and multiple useful ailments he can inflict. I can't say for sure though, since I never used Garth enough.

Cause he's a Kickstarter charecter, designed by the backer rather than dingaling. I've a feeling the not so good charecters are Kickstarter backers for sure.

I never used him, so I don't know how much he sucks and lot of people claims that he's 'out of place' because he's a KS character, I'm not sure, Rage is a KS character and he's quite good.

Rage isn't a Kickstarter character. Maybe you're thinking of Beastborn?

If you're curious who all the Kickstarter characters are, they're Beastborn, Yazan, Garth, Jack, RT and Sonny. Everyone other than those 6 were made by Dingaling. So there are definitely some strong Kickstarter created ones (particularly Jack and RT) and some weaker originals (like Crisp and Tiger Man). All the really OP ones seem created by Dingaling though; the only ones I'd really consider OP are Birdy, then maybe Carp (only due to Wrist Slash) and Fly (Fly definitely was OP before Puke was nerfed, at least).

Ah, yes, Beastborn, the wolf dude. He's quite all right, I think the problem people have with Garth is that he's too artsy fartsy, like, "Loook how unique I am".

jack was the magician, right? also, i feel like im missing out on something. i went back and watched the pre-alpha trailers and saw a lot of stuff that i never seen when i played it, and ive gone through it 3 or 4 times. there was a crawling mechanic and some conversations between buddy, sticky, rick and that one other guy who brad was originally friends with. was there something i missed?

Yup, Jack was the young magician boy.

Far as you missing stuff, there were multiple things in some of the trailers that didn't make it into or that weren't quite like the final version of the game, so you didn't miss any of those things. Still possible you could've missed stuff otherwise, though if you got every achievement and feel like you were pretty thorough, then you've likely found most, if not everything.

Garth is in my top three favorite party members, maybe you're just unable to related to his artistic qualities.
