Best Ending?
I want to get a good ending, should I not use Joy at all? On any character? Or only Brad?

If you want the joyless ending scene, you gotta avoid using joy completely. Even using it on someone other than Brad counts against it.

Also, you should know that the joyless ending scene is on normal mode only, since Pain mode has a different scene. So if you're going for a joyless run, make sure you say "no" when asked if you want to do pain mode near the start of the game.

Oh, I failed my joyless run then...I just used Joy on Olan to beat the hair guys! And I may have used it near the beggining of the game on Hintz but I'm not sure...

Hair guys go down like punks if you have firebombs, for future reference. :)

I had 4 of them but I was being stingy about using them but then they started one hit KO-ing everyone with 1000+ damage attacks (my gang was around LV 11). Only Olan survived and I had to use joy on him to win(I also threw all my firebombs on them). Maybe I should reload a previous save but still, I may have used Joy on Hintz earlier in the game...And if I reload I would lose a lot of progress...

There's another option for getting the Joyless ending, but it involves losing the ability to clap

If you use joy EXACTLY once, you should be okay, since it's supposed to be using joy 2 times or more that keeps you from getting the joyless end. So you can potentially reload to before the fight with the hair guys (and avoid using it on Olan or anyone else there), though you'd better be sure you didn't use joy more than once. If you have any doubts, I'd say restarting's probably better, since even though you've made some progress, you're currently closer to the beginning of the game than to the end.

I didn't get it at first, but then I thought about it and laughed.

I am sure I used it only once, but I decided to continue on my save like that to see the bad ending and then start from the save before the hair guys and get the joyless one.

The bad ending is the exact same as the joyless ending only missing a scene. Beating the game Joyless or Selfless adds a cutscene to the end, but doesn't change anything else, just like beating the game on Pain mode does. Don't expect the bad end to add anything.
