How much like Earthbound is this game?
It seems to have the whole quirky thing going on, reminded me of Earthbound when I saw it. I'm very tempted to get this, just want to know what I'm getting into.

It feels (a lot) and plays (a bit) like Earthbound. The battle system is Earthbound-like, with the exception of there not being a speedometer for health and you do combos instead of one single move at a time. But obviously the quirkiness is more mature.

I already bought it :P I decided what's the worst possible result, a lost $4 (I got the complete edition). I've spent more on games that disappointed me. Lichdom, I'm looking at you.

In regards to mature quirkiness, the final boss of Earthbound is a monster that resembles a fetus and was made when the developer thought he saw a horrible scene in a movie (Unlikely there are kids in here, but just in case I won't mention what the scene was). This is more quirky and mature than that?

♥♥♥♥♥♥ Giygas. I love Earthbound though. And yes. Its a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up game, subject matter-wise.

Eh, it's maybe comparable in that it is a retro, 16-bit style RPG, but beyond that, the story is much, much, much darker, combat and choices are more random/varied, and the art is a little more subdued and less cute. Reminds me of Adventure Time.

It looks like earthbound but feels like you're dad putting cigarettes out on your arm.

The music also reminds me of Earthbound in the disjointed funk sort of feel.

This game was actually inspired specifically by Giygas, IIRC. It does have a quirky sense of humor at times, but also has a really dark sense of humor as well. It really isn't that similar though.

Earthbound is what inspired LISA, so expect a lot of connections.
