Definitely, they were the first ones I added to my list. Do you know of any others?
I usually have another TP user along with these two, usually Olan because he's naturally a good TP user (his Hide, Rapid Bow, and Mega Rapid Bow moves are very good all around). can deal loads of damage if given the right equipment, and naturally speedy.
Now, for the super-duper secret boss fight, I'd have to stick with Terry's Hottest Dance and Birdie's Spewing attack thingy (forgot what its called). The super-duper secret boss is obnoxious with its high HP, resisting to most status effects besides Pissed, potentially perma-killing your party members whenever it feels like it (although Joy Mutants and other special enemies can do that, you can at least predict and strategize, predicting this boss is a whole 'nother thing) and resisting physical attacks (resisting physical attacks is your biggest issue here). Having Nern for SP/HP replenishing, using Finger Beam moderately, and then Terry and Birdie for their combo of burning up enemies is the best. It's cheap, sure, but the high HP is wayyyy too much, especially if somebody plays in Hard Mode like I did because you have to do it all in one sitting. Luckily you don't get a GameOver if you lose the battle, but you're probably gonna lose vital party members and "softlock" you from beating it. I should reattempt the fight myself but frankly I don't think wasting an hour or two on dwiddling a boss is good game design. Even when you get items after your party members are perma-killed, they have a low hit-rate and miss right-then-and-there.
tl;dr, Nern and Olan are solid all around from beginning to end. Carp is very good too if you level him up to the point he learns Wrist & Ankle Slash. For the super-duper secret boss fight, you're gonna want Birdie, Terry's Hottest Dance, and Nern to make it manageable.
