Report a translation problem
Painful is the fledged out edition of the story and has a solid amount of exposition. I'd argue some stuff is meant to be obscure, much like First isn't that direct.

First is far more dreadful in its depiction of its themes, where Painful and Joyful are far more forgiving with the interesting world and humor. I'm a huge LISA dork and even I don't think I could stomach First.
I play Lisa the First way before even Painful was a thing... That makes me feel very old.
