Early-game party advice (The Painful - Normal Mode)
Hey, just recently started the game, up to the point where I'm about to get the truck out of the way and move on, just curious about some advice for what party to use.

My current one is Brad (of course), Olan, Nern and Rage. Kicked Terry out after getting all three of the others because while I know he gets good eventually the others are good NOW and I didn't really think I could afford to take the risk on raising Terry with all the challenges coming up.

I seem to have everyone I could have available. Not too interested in Fardy (unless I need him to be in the active party to move the truck), Beastborn or Mad Dog, mostly considering putting in Rooster (heard he's quite good) or shuffling Terry back in but honestly I'm willing to hear anything really.

Thanks in advance!

Personally, i'd replace Nern with either Beastborn or Mad Dog for more team dps. But otherwise your team sounds solid.

Really? I can sorta see that but I have my concerns about throwing away my only "support" character, who can give me infinite SP and boost TP for those that need it.

But from your response, I guess I might be over-valuing him a bit?

Just use anyone, the game isn't difficult enough to pick "optimally" so just use favorites/backup for when they inevitably die painfully :^)

What he said, and you can always stock up on diet cocola cola's and lucrative teas to fill in for him.

Alright, I suppose I'll keep my current party for now since that's what i'm used to, and just keep it all in mind in case someone croaks.

This isn't what you're asking, but here's some party advice for later in the game. Fly, Harvey, RT, Olan, and Birdie are gods in the mid/late game. Here's why: Fly: massive damage to all enemies Harvey and RT: OP single target debuffs(together can lock down a single target) Olan: insane survive ability with "hide". With joy his damage output is insane.
Birdie: oil (+fire). I suggest an Birdie Jack combo

"Ollie" I think you meant Birdie.

As an update, I lost Olan instead of my arm and swapped him out with Rooster. Also lost Percy in Roulette.

Had definitely heard of Birdie's shenanigans but not the most sure of how to best utilize that so I'll definitely pick him up but I might leave him out of the active party for now, see how things roll with my current party and switch to a Fire abuse one if it goes wrong or my favorite guys die off.

Gonna try to recruit everyone to the best of my ability but I have my concerns about getting Clint and Tiger Man due to painful recruitment and addiction issues (I get enough of that with Brad...).

You sound like you got a good plan. Honestly, there are times where Birdie makes the game a little less fun, in my eyes. You shouldn't be killing baddies quickly, it should be the other way around.

And if you're trying to get everyone, when you go through Roulette (to get Buckets), you'll get a ton of mags and Clint will be pocket change. Tiger Man is good EXP, he should be fought regardless (and hey, then you have someone for Roulette...).

And as far of what party you should have, pick who you like! Unless you're having REAL difficulty, you should be able to get through the game with any party. I insisted on keeping Queen Roger the whole time, even tho he's not that good of a party member (but he's my fave)! The optimal party is the one that works for you.
