Doctor vs Combat Medic
After 400 hours I found the Doctor to be much more useful in combat than the Combat Medic. He has more Doctor stats so he heals more, plus if he's an Officer you add the Bodyguard combination and then you have some really useful talents at your disposal. Later in the game when I have a big ship I need at least 2-3 Doctors for various Doctor checks, but in general I think Doctor is much better than Combat Medic, even when it comes to Crew Combat. What do you think?

Doctor/Combat Medic/+1 is already standard.
Both jobs stack Doctor skill, for huge heals.
Combat Medic has many crucial crew-combat talents, and decent Pistol dice.
The +1 can be any 3rd Doctor job (esp. Scientist), or a 2nd Pistol job (esp. Military Officer).

Pure Doctor doesn't belong in crew combat.
He brings 0 crew combat dice and 0 crew combat talents. That's too much dead weight.

I think you are wrong, after 400 hours and lots of crew combats I abandoned Combat Medics for good, now I only use Doctors + some Bodyguard skills, they heal like bringing Lazarus from the dead.

BTW I don't remember the last time I lost a fight in Crew Combat, and I'm playing on Hard difficulty. Maybe against Xenos when I don't have Explorer skills, but lately I don't accept Explorer missions anyway. I always win in Crew Combat, maybe because I always have a captain who has solid Crew Combat stats, even when I play as Smuggler or Pirate. My current playthrough is the Shock Trooper captain on Hard and it's such a beast that I feel like I could win 2 vs 4.
Doctor 15 talent, heal every combatant seems great, but demanding.

I think doctor and bodyguard are an inefficient match.
The bodyguard shines as frontliner, where you don't want to have your doctor. They only share Tactics which is pointless in crew combat.
The bodyguard is much more effective if combined with other classes using pistols and/or blades. There is no need for any of the debuff remover skills of the bodyguard, if you have Medical Rest of the doctor. And like others mentioned, the doctor is much more efficient if combined with doctor classes.

I would rather kick the doctor and use a strong build around the bodyguard. Doesn't look like you need a doctor in your crew combat setup.

Btw. the benchmark for winning crew combat is dealing with Xenos. Everything else is just mowing the weed.

Tactics is regular dice for defense against ranged attack (and grenades) and increases your crit chance (1 per rank). It's not useless.

Bodyguard and Doctor can work. If the character is always buffing and healing, then they don't need to worry too much about poor chance to hit. Not a choice I'd make, but it's not terrible.

I'm pretty sure the Bodyguard autoblock talents are all broken. I've only ever seen them go away from time or buff removal talents. I also can't recall ever seeing a buff removal talent get blocked, they strip the buff before it can do anything (a bit harder to see this one, since I don't have the log open all the time, but that's the impression I have).

Use what you want, from my experience Doctor works much better (heals more) in crew combat then Combat Medic. Regarding their pistols it depends on many factors, but in healing Doctor is much more efficient.

Doctor for skill, CM for talents. They are not exclusive they are complementary,
Third job for buffs, when you don't require heal/cleanse and vaccination watch is online already. Pistol is a thing, especially with story reward pistol, but you should be real about it, if you've focused doctor skill.

Doctor bodyguard is an interesting idea actually, I'm not ready do calculate., but that set of talents may prove decent for the third job. Less doctor, sure, but more mitigation? That is smth that works well in mmo or rpg usually.
