Both jobs stack Doctor skill, for huge heals.
Combat Medic has many crucial crew-combat talents, and decent Pistol dice.
The +1 can be any 3rd Doctor job (esp. Scientist), or a 2nd Pistol job (esp. Military Officer).
Pure Doctor doesn't belong in crew combat.
He brings 0 crew combat dice and 0 crew combat talents. That's too much dead weight.
I think you are wrong, after 400 hours and lots of crew combats I abandoned Combat Medics for good, now I only use Doctors + some Bodyguard skills, they heal like bringing Lazarus from the dead.
The bodyguard shines as frontliner, where you don't want to have your doctor. They only share Tactics which is pointless in crew combat.
The bodyguard is much more effective if combined with other classes using pistols and/or blades. There is no need for any of the debuff remover skills of the bodyguard, if you have Medical Rest of the doctor. And like others mentioned, the doctor is much more efficient if combined with doctor classes.
I would rather kick the doctor and use a strong build around the bodyguard. Doesn't look like you need a doctor in your crew combat setup.
Btw. the benchmark for winning crew combat is dealing with Xenos. Everything else is just mowing the weed.
Bodyguard and Doctor can work. If the character is always buffing and healing, then they don't need to worry too much about poor chance to hit. Not a choice I'd make, but it's not terrible.
I'm pretty sure the Bodyguard autoblock talents are all broken. I've only ever seen them go away from time or buff removal talents. I also can't recall ever seeing a buff removal talent get blocked, they strip the buff before it can do anything (a bit harder to see this one, since I don't have the log open all the time, but that's the impression I have).
Third job for buffs, when you don't require heal/cleanse and vaccination watch is online already. Pistol is a thing, especially with story reward pistol, but you should be real about it, if you've focused doctor skill.
Doctor bodyguard is an interesting idea actually, I'm not ready do calculate., but that set of talents may prove decent for the third job. Less doctor, sure, but more mitigation? That is smth that works well in mmo or rpg usually.
