When you arrive on the front page of this tool, it can be really confusing.
There is an UNMARKED WHITE BOX under the ship tab.
Click in it to select a ship, and then you're off to the races.

This is great, but I hope that one day it will be updated to include boarding and range change stats. I'm a close range berserker and I'd love to know what helps me get in and keelhaul the blokes.

Seen some mentions and images resulting from that tool. cought now with my feet on Xcom2 WOTC. Almost finished on IOS and today blew all my work on the PC thanks to a coruppted file by a big MOD maker even I reinstalled it from stream and can not get the advanced option menu. Have to get it out of my blood then come back here.

Pardon if already obvious but how would you get any of these [new] ship designs into the game?

The two will let you plan the ideal ship, but then you need to find those ship components at Star ports in the game and actually purchase them. Hope that helps
