How Did My Captain Become a Spice Addict?
I'm trying to figure out how my captain became a spice addict and how I cure them? Thanks!

You go to the spice hall all the time so there is a chance. I forget if the gestalt doctors can cure that trait. I think it might be curable just not 100% sure.

Spice addict can't be cured by the Gestalt. They mainly heal the negative combat traits like Flashbacks and Fatalistic. The full list is on the wiki: https://startraders.gamepedia.com/Trait_Conditioning

On the Spice addict note. I kinda noticed that half my crews are spice addicts by the time i usually clear the box. I guess it's pretty dune an all. But it was supposed to strengthen the body and expand the mind, so maybe add some 2 point Attribute bonus to it. Maybe +1 Wis +1 Fort, or something :) .

Semi-related to spice addicts: Captains beware the Rychart spice halls if you have a guy like this in your crew.

The spice halls can raise morale up to 90, but he only goes above 80 in combat. He will drain a full spice world and your wallet at the same time.

The logical: Excessive spice hall visits can turn anyone into a spice addict.

The illogical: Spice addiction can also appear completely at random, even to those who've never been to a spice hall even once.

Spice is a constant ingredient in the food, drink, smoke and medical substances of the Star Traders.

I think the point is your whole crew gets addicted. It's like a bunch of coke addicts running drugs for the CIA in the 80's. There needs to be either a frequency trigtger or a way to cure it, preferably both.

I'm not sure what you mean by "frequency trigger"? There is no way to cure the Trait. Lots of negative Traits cannot be removed, even by Gestalt Tech.

Well then that's crap. It's too easy to get that trait. Over half my crew are addicts.

its not really that bad of a trait i barely notice it

That's not the point. The game is supposed to be an RPG, well I don't want to RPG a drug addicted space ship captain. At least make it harder to get and give the ability for a doctor contact to cure it.

I'd encourage you to think of all Traits as points in how you tell your own story about the game. Not everything is rosy in the void.

Sorry that you dislike the fact that the game has negative Traits. I also don't want a Greedy crew member or wish that my officer who nearly died too many times in combat has become Obdurate and gains far less XP. Not all negative Traits can be healed, there are negative Traits. These are some core design points of the game.

One thing I've been wondering about- Sometimes salvage will give you a card that removes a negative trait, but when I draw it it doesn't say which trait has been removed, if any. Does this mean that there were no viable traits that could be removed? Is it limited to the same negative traits as Gestalt conditioning?
