time limits for missions kill my fun
I started actively avoiding missions and contacts because it seems I cannot finish anything in time.
and I don't like to be rushed.

it just sucks. it's such a fun killer to not be able to do what I actually want: look around, check out prices, talk to contacts, do missions for flavor, buy ships. no, I have to rush rush rush and find some obscure product that almost no one sells, ...............

I really don't think I need to explain this.

I feel like I'm in a constant rush racing from one spot to another, never being able to actually sell my goods, have to stash them somewhere, because otherwise I can't pick up or drop of mission items, and so on...

ticking clocks may work for action games. they suck in slow strategy

if the player is a person that needs time limits to be entertained, they do not play this kind of game anyway

bad design. really really makes me want to stop playing.

worse: I feel like I wasted all this time learning to play and looking at wiki and so on.

I am done

the never ending quarantine was the last straw, but what got me into this position is the time limit.

the mission drop off was the quarantined system.

no win situation against dice throws.

stupid

either quintuple the time limits or give the player the option to just shut them off.

strategy players are completionists anyway who will do the mission asap ANYWAY just because OCD

I DO NOT NEED A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TICKING CLOCK

in my opinion, it's just a mission choice matter: there are some missions that have a deadline really generous, pay well and grant you to make something else in the while(exploring, trading, combat, orbital stuff) and other missions that are very short in deadline...but honestly,in a middle play time you have enough contacts(a lot if u choose the right talents) and so man mission typesfor each gameplay style that u have just to take the right mission :) and man, it's not a CASUAL game, but a STRATEGY one, and...well, it requires strategy and planning,at every difficulty :)
and, said this, there's no reason to be aggressive criticizing the game just to come out the frustration if something doesn't work in a playthrough...:)

cheers

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I hope the thread can stay friendly. Everyone has an opinion and are entitled to it. It doesn't really help for us to repeat post what we've said already, so I don't jump in too often.

We've expressed our stance on it above, I believe. Missions and storyline timers are integral to how we built the game and it's concept of the galaxy-in-motion. We know that some players won't like the choice, but there are guaranteed to be players who don't like every single choice we made to create STF. We believe this decision is key to making the game what it is and have no plans to change it in the future.

My simplest suggestion is this -- get involved in a single storyline at a time. Make the definitive choice that you will focus on it and not try to do too many other things at once. Make the choice, accept the consequences, pla your appraoch, achieve the deadlines. If you dislike even this focused approach, then consider refusing to engage any of the storylines until you've explored the sand ox as deeply as you want, and then return to try them in a later play through.

I hope it helps and I hope it makes our stance clear.

Get your ♥♥♥♥ straight. What is "defence'? nowhere to find the info ingame or on the wiki ... there's such a lack of info it's near unplayable...

Sorry, this is not my first post on the thread. I've made other suggestions. This has been an on-going conversation. Other players have made suggestions. I'm trying to help. In short -- if you feel like you can't do everything, do less. This is different for all players. I'm trying to help this group of players who are feeling the timelines are too short.

I don't know, what is "defence"? ... deference? I can't find it in this thread.

Looks like a case of "wrong thread".

Exactly.... "Defence" is used but not caracterized... I guess it's good but hell if I know what it does in term of mechanics...

So I would have to open a new topic for you to avoid it? Thanks...

So the info you are still missing is dice mechanics? You clearly didn't try very hard if you couldn't find any of this, but dice mechanics are here:

https://startraders.gamepedia.com/Dice_Mechanics

No one is avoiding your topic. You are being obtuse and rude. What is wrong with opening a thread to ask a question? You haven't been paying attention if you think the devs would have avoided it.

I'm sorry, I didn't understand the question. Honest mistake, I did not realize we were jumping topics.

Defense is your ship's ability to dodge attacks. The wiki links provided above should be helpful as well.

My apologies.
