You're probably at a zone without a high enough military rating. If you check "Ignore Mins" on the upgrade menu, then you'll see even modules your present zone doesn't qualify to sell, and why. There is also an option to show even modules which are sold only by one faction, so you'll know they exist and might be able to plan a visit to that faction's worlds.

I think you need like Military 9? I do wonder why the requirements aren't listed in the wiki. It's not like they're top secret.

Aslo the price for a5 locker has increased dramatically..i think the devs are trying to get the players to purchase the lower lockers first..

Just check the game -- Starport > Filter > Ignore Mins.

As long as the trade-in price of a lower level locker is a fraction of what its original purchase price was, players will always be trying to skip straight from Lv. 1 and Lv. 5 (and dying in the process). Nobody enjoys feeling as though they're wasting money.

Dying is unfortunate any way you go about it. Be sure to upgrade one way or another :D

The in-game starport filters are you friend for finding components of any type or with any minimum requirements.

Ignore Mins + All Factions will give you a look at *everything*.

I go to A3 often more often I go from A1 directly to contacts equipment.

Only time I might go A5 is if I'm never doing ship combat.

It takes up a small slot and is over mass compared to majority of small slots.

I guess A5 is good if you aren't playing the contact game or just have crew and not officers so you don't need gear.

Honestly not that much difference for many builds between a3 and a5. Some builds it matters.

I usually build both an A3 and A5 over the course of early game and eventually just buy a ton contact equip and ditch it.

I'm definitely not a CC master, but getting to A3 is my first purchase these days. From there, I *do* move to A4 (or if I'm doing particularly well with money, A5). However, I'm not prioritizing contact weaponry as eagerly, and there is some A5 armor that is particularly good compared to some contact armor even. Also, on ships with fewer small slots, keeping a weapons locker on board is a larger opportunity cost.

Two things to note:

1) Weapons locker levels are not dependent on Starport rating (thought you need at least 6 to have a starport) but Military rating. When in doubt, go to the faction capitol - they always have high stats in both.

2) Weapons lockers become a waste of space once you've got contacts for weapons, armor and military gear. This is because lockers only go up to level 5 but contacts go up to level 7, and unless you're really, really bad at ground combat there is no reason for you to equip your entire crew when just your away team will suffice. There are also special missions that give unique items beyond level 7, but honestly, even a 4 person team with all level 7 gear will absolutely curb-stomp anything unless you've deliberately jacked up your own difficulty level to masochist levels.

One-shot kills are not out of the question, even with just pistols. At Normal difficulty, an all level-7 gear team can routinely wipe out the enemy in boarding combat before they can even gets one shot off.

2 great points!

Interesting that you made a good point about not needing a5 lockers and the dev has made it financial out of reach.....
Question....why have them for sale anyway.....

Sometimes you could win battle and loose the war...
In this case win the argument and lose perpective....why have things in game if you can't have or dont want?

Sorry you're so down on the difficulty and price scaling of important items within the game. A5 is not out of financial reach, I don't think. If you are climbing the right Contact ladders, you might equip your combat team with gear that beats A5, but that requires focus on a certain type of play. Lots of players are not doing this which probably explains why it is such a popular component still even after the price bumps.

What are people's opinions of the A3 vs A5 locker for heavy armor users? I've come across threads where it was advised against going to A5 if you're using Heavy Armor due to the Initiative hit.

So why the price bump (50%)?... What is the intent.....
