Cost of Aramach missile battery

Hey folks,

So I just started playing the game and I was following a guide that I found useful to get to grips with the game over on the wiki and in the guide it has you save up for a new ship then recommends some upgrades for it.

So far the guide has been pretty accurate about most things, except I came across this one change to the new ship and the price was wildly out. The guide say to make this change:

S: Light Railgun ==> Aramach x2 Missile Battery ($40k, 1 week, 1 day)

But the cost of it for me isn't $40k it's closer to a smidge under $240! It comes down to around $191k when my engineers talents come off of cooldown, but still, it seems wildly out from what the guide says.

So really I was just wondering, is it a typo in this guide? Were the prices of certain things changed in a patch after the guide was written? Should I try a different planet? I don't mind paying it, I've got the hang of making money alright so I can afford it, it's just a big enough difference to make me pause and wonder what's up! Not complaining, I love the game, I'm just curious as to what gives more than anything. Cheers!

Higher tier weapons had their costs increased with update 199.

I see. A pretty sizable increase, but then again it is high tier. No worries, thanks for the info.

@bootsy81 - there are still weapon tiers beyond 1 and 2 that have low costs. Look as high as 3 or 4. The intention of the guide is still very valid -- upgrade your weapons to the highest level you can cheaply afford early.

STF is receiving updates, improvements, balance changes, new features and new art on a weekly basis. One of the recent pushes in balance is to reprice all of the weapons. At the time the guide was written you could upgrade to the best weapons in the game for very little.
