Moving dry docked ships

So I want to clarify something, is there no way to move a dry docked ship than to physically go and move it? This can be quite cumbersome the more you own. Or in certain activities. Like if I spent time exploring in the NE, then I go get my freighter to pick up everything, then go to explore the SW, I don’t want to go all the way back up to the NE just to pick up the freighter. Or am I missing something?

If this is the case, is it possible to add a transport option in the future? Like say I pay 30K, select the new dry dock, and in a few weeks my ship is delivered there by a ‘transport company.’

Adding a transport option is on our futures list. It would cost a good deal of credits and take a certain amount of time based on the distance, but it would allow you to move them. Today, there is no way to move them other than manually flying them, which I believe requires at least 3 ships.

As to the needing three ships to do it presently...I need a little help on the math. How can you do it with 3 ships if you can only fly one at a time?

* A, The ship you're in
* B, The ship in drydock that you want to move
* C, A third ship in drydock at the destination for B

Fly A to B's location.
Switch to ship B.
Fly ship B to its intended destination where C is.
Switch to ship C.
Fly ship C back to B's original location and re-enter A, if you want.

Of course, if ship B or C doesn't have room for your entire crew and officer set, you will have to let somebody go.

Oh I see. So you’ll get A and B where you want them, but not C. Until of course they add the afore mentioned ship transport option to the game.

What if, instead of paying someone to move your ship for you, you could drydock the ship you're flying at the moment, and pay for passenger transport for you and your crew to the location of a second, previously drydocked ship?

Or a tractor beam (do we have those in ST universe?). We could tow one other ship that we owned to another location, but it would cost a huge amount of fuel based on size.

The funny thing is that was my only peaceful run ever lol. Most of the time I end up hunting Xeno's. But never had a run that I thought I could turn into a guide.

Kind of started a ship combat thread that I was going to turn into a guide. But it was right before big carrier patch and changes to ship combat.

I feel like the ship combat curve is steep in the early game on impossible. You really need to hit the command pool hard I think with lots of mil offs or comms on crew.

I think crew combat you can start fighting pretty much immediately even on impossible.

I have the same problem. I captured two big prize ships in a war, but they are stuck on a dock two jump away. I think this is easily fixed by just add another taxi ship. Cost maybe 50-150k, have little or no armor and weapons. It can carry around 5 officers and 30+ crews. You can ride it to where you want and then sell the ship back for a couple k.

Thanks for the suggestion on how to resolve the issue. We've discussed being able to just pay to have it towed.

I spend about 500k to buy a Raptor to ferry my captain and crew from my base quadrant to where ever the other ship is dry dock. Once there, I sold off the Raptor and bring home the dry docked ship.

That's one expensive taxi ride. :D

I think an automated ferry option would be similar price, but do you having to do these extra steps.

I saw this "ship transfer" option was introduced into the game since then.

Question is : I can't see how to achieve the said transfer in the UI. How do I perform the transfer ?
