-----------
- Removed shadow from item description text, as it was breaking. Probably going to remove text shadows in general, as they don't really look very good.
- Fixed broken text when gambling over loot.
- Hopefully fixed some event dialogue which would have been out of order.
- Increased item description window size.
- Revised info broker dialogue.
- Revised a bunch of quest descriptions, and added one that was previously missed.
- Added in a few lines that got missed.
- Revised another 50 or so item descriptions.
- Added English country labels during world gen.
Note: This isn't a full patch. You need to get the main download (either from the link above or RHDN) and put the following file in the patch folder before running the patcher batch:

-------------------
- Properly fixed the text shadow/wrapping issue.
- Fixed multiple typos (and possibly introduced some new ones!)
- Several hundred lines of text revisions.
Thanks! I'm mainly focusing on The Third Book right now, since a lot of Passage of the Book's text can be reused there, and also because I just really enjoy it as a game. Also, script revisions made for The Thid Book are being copied to Passage of the Book as well.
I did write some script dumpers for LD1 and 2, though, so the dialogues and everything can be translated whenever someone gets to that. I think Helly, the main translator for PotB, is busy with something else right now. There are also some minor technical issues I'm encountering with that, but hopefully they can be resolved.
I don't know if anyone's actively working on LD3 right now, unfortunately.

A few points:
1. You'll need to make an account with them. You have to give an address, and I think you need to indicate a prefecture and Japanese ZIP code. Just pick something. I think when you try to pay it'll propt you for login/payment/shipping information.
2. They only take Japanese credit cards, but you CAN pay with paypal outside of Japan.
3. On the checkout screen, you'll see a checkbox with "バックアップCD(送料無料)" written next to it. This is for ordering a backup disk. Uncheck that -- it's ten dollars and since you can't give a valid shipping address anyway, it's pointless.
Also make sure you give a valid email address! You'll get a produt key emailed to you, and you need to register the game with that before you can play it.
You DON'T need to create an online account to play singeplayer, though. There's some generic username you give with the product key as a password when you're prompted to log in for the first time.
Feel free to ask me if you need help!
(I do wish these would sell well enough to justify bringing T3B to Steam -- it really does seem like it's the best of the series).
[Last Name] [First Name]
[Last Name] [First Name]*
[Postal Code]
[Prefecture] [City]
[Street Address]
[Address Line 2 -- Like, Apt. 5?]
[Phone]
You probably need to give a fake postal code, prefecture, and city, but it doesn't seem to matter. As long as you give a valid e-mail on the first screen and a valid paypal account on the screen after this you SHOULD be fine.
* (Ideally, the first two name fields use kanji and these ones have it spelled out with kana I guess)
On the plus side, it works fine WITHOUT Locale Emulator, and you're not exactly missing much. There're basically a few up/down arrows and some radio buttons on the quest log that won't display right.
Gameplay-wise, the battle system definitely reminds me of Ogre Battle in the sense that you have limited control over the AI and kind of have to focus on having a good balance between healers, attackers, and spellcasters? The major gameplay theme is that the AI characters are there own, autonomous entities, so you only really directly control your own character (although you can use an action to ask the AI to do certain things in battle).
I don't know if Baldur's Gate is really a good comparison, though -- the towns themselves aren't explorable and there's not much in the way of a set storyline. It's more about the dungeon crawling and the world history that develops out of having like 100 NPCs running around doing the same stuff the player's doing.
You might want to check out Darklands too, for something more overtly BG-ish -- it's on Steam and GOG, and very much in English.
By the way, did anyone have any luck purchasing Lunatic Dawn: The Third Book?
-- edit --
By the way, I want to put out another version around the Steam sale. There are some minor text revisions stemming from what's been done with The Third Book so far, and I'm still kind of going through item descriptions.
REALLY curious if the special event text relating to thief bands and spirit attacks are showing up properly. I've not been able to trigger those.
Yes, it really looks like Ogre Battle! The developing world history makes me think of something like Dwarf Fortress.
I don't know anything about Atlas 1/2. It's also an RPG? I will check that out.
I had no problems installing the translation patch and running the game. I'm running it with Japanese applocale in administrator mode on Win7/64. Working perfectly. Well pleased!
If I run into any bugs or anything I'll be sure to report it.
If I end up enjoying this game as much as I think I will, I'll look into trying to get Lunatic Dawn: The 3rd Book off the Artdink site. Maybe can even help you test it if needed/wanted at that time. Did you buy it from there?
