only solution is running tropico 2 in safe mode which is alright i guess besides the crap res.

I am running it on Windows 10 at the moment. Have no idea how / why. All I remember was that the game installed DirectPlay before the first run.

It runs fine for me too on Windows 10. Only problem I had once was that my antivirus came up with a popup which glitched out the colors.

When your colours got all glitched (same for me when I alt+tab) go to Settings and change rendering from Software to Hardware and back. Fixes them and is faster than a game restart.

I've got it running on 10. Try using compatibility mode with windows xp.

Yes, a refund is probably the best idea. Get Win7 back on your system, the game is perfectly fine.

It tried to get me to install direct play before playing but I couldn't so I skipped it and it's running ok. Had to reload it once when the colours glitched. Also zooming in and out/ moving around the map too fast doesn't really work but apart from that it's fine.

Read the system requirements guys. WIN10 is not listed. This is like the 5th game I've read the exact same thread. WIN10 is not compatible with alot of old games. GOG might have some compatible stuff they are really the only ones that work on it with the devs.

This game runs fine on windows 10, I played it for 2 hours with my son today. It just needs to be run in compatibility mode. Simply right click the tropico2.exe, choose properties and then access the compatibility tab. This works fine with either the win98 or winXP option.

You also should update the game to the latest patch (1.2 I believe). There are game-breaking issues with the build provided on steam- why the latest build is not provided defies logic. Things like pathing are completely broken on the version provided here. The patch will mess up the CRC of the file (preventing future updates from executing), but the game will never receive another update so the issue is moot.
