I'm done with this game.
2011 player here.

I don't play Transformice as often anymore, in fact I left for about 2-3 years maybe after they updated having an event every week. (I couldn't stay active enough to get the event specials due to school, work, and the usual stuff that keeps you busy from playing video games.) I recently came back a few days ago to dabble in the game for childhood memories since I started playing when I was a kiddo too, but Holy Moly. I remember the golden age of TFM, when it wasn't so horrible. Nowadays you have this toxic community that I dare say is getting up to MOBA toxicity levels. (And I've been dragged through LoL hell and still play it, that's saying something.)

TFM is different though. It's actually unbearable on TFM. At least in the moba you can just drag your chat off the screen and not see anything, but TFM has a tsunami wave of unrelenting children that just make the experience bad. Not only are they rude as sin, but they bash new players, say the cringey-ist garbage, and send death threats. I laugh at death threats nowadays cause what college student doesn't want to get run over in the street, amiright? Anyways.

Just today, (my final day playing the game I've decided because Jesus ♥♥♥♥) I saw people picking on a new player and telling them to do the usual death command saying that it "will help you". Then laughing when the new player fell for it. I called them out for it then I got bashed for standing up for them. One person even told me to kill myself for being uptight. I've never ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ laughed harder, why are KIDS saying this ♥♥♥♥?! This is ♥♥♥♥ you shouldn't hear OR let go unpunished on a k i d s game. Then I got jumped on by pretty much the whole room for complaining about the community going to crap, even a few players agreed with me but majority vote was your usual avalanche of angry white knight babies defending the game, of course. Someone told me to quit, so yea, I am.

Where did this game go so horribly wrong. It always had it's fair share of young players, but now the player base is so horribly toxic I can't stand it. And yea, I get it, mute button, blacklist, whatever. Still, this is a serious issue. If administrators let this many people run rampant being little ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all the time, how they can expect their game to stay afloat. I keep reading things about how the admins/mods have been crappy lately and I just, don't get it. I don't get what happened, what made all of it come crashing down. Did they just stop caring and LET their game get this bad, or what? It seriously blows my mind.

Been seeing a lot of other people quitting too, same complaint: Toxic community, bad administration. Finding friends isn't easy either when your entire friend's list (online and offline) quit the game for the same reason. It's time to move on.

And if you even take a peek at the bad reviews for this game, there's players that taunt the bad review for mentioning a garbo-community. News flash: If you're telling people they hate the game cause they "suck" or they're "sensitive", YOU'RE the problem.

Yes most communities are like this nowadays, but most are also not swarmed near entirely by flocks of annoying kids that should be getting warnings from moderators at the least for their actions.

Edit: I don't have so few hours on record, I registered on November 11th, 2011.

I see complaints like these all the time yet never actually see toxic behavior, maybe because I play only small lobbies; but hopfully though you'll put all this in a review of game, if the situation is as bad as you and others say.

Spend time in those big lobbies during the time that players are most active in the day, and you'll see it unfold. Unfortunately for this wellmade game, the community is quite possibly the largest con to playing. If you look for specifically bad reviews of TFM on Steam, you'll see that as the main complaint. It's a good game, I enjoy its gameplay, but yea.

I agree 100%. I made my account in 2010 and took a super long break, just started playing again a couple days ago and my lord are the populated rooms horrible. I just stick to small vanilla rooms now to try and avoid the toxic players.

I joined in 2013, the community was always a bit on edge but there were definitely a bunch of kind people and I met a lot of friends back then! The community has increased in toxicity after the animal jam youtubers got to it... Maybe it's cuz of all the kiddos coming on haha. I don't play the game much anymore, but it's always in the back of my mind. I've joined the Discord server and met a few people in the art channel. In general, the game is terribly toxic, especially to new or returning players. I agree, it should not be rarer to find a kind player than one that will patronize you for every wrong move. Being sham is terrifying now... Especially when I suck at divine :')

I’ve played since 2010 and i keep telling myself that i am done every time the game makes me sick (usually after playing for a few months). Adding throwables and not making obvious favos a bannable offense is why this game sucks so much in my opinion. The bad trolls and ALL CAPS SCREAMING spam also are annoying. Yet underneath all that it really is a good game and I don’t have the heart to give it a bad review. I am disappointed in atelier 801, they sold out big time.

I'm an early 2014 player and I used to play constantly. Now, I'm through with it just because of the community. They complain so much about the dumbest things and when someone needs help/doesn't deserve the complaints, they still relentlessly attack them. There are better games and honestly, I realize that a lot of what made 2014-2015 some of my favorite years were the few nice people in a small tribe. I don't have that convienence now (as most of the people left the game) and I feel because of it I'm introduced to so much more toxicity. Whether it's the cafe or just the chat itself, it isn't what it used to be. Even if what it used to be was repetitive and boring.

2014 player here. ^^
I used to play transformice a lot, especially when I was a bit younger, but now my taste for games has gone to a bit of the fastpaced, first person shooters. I still like to play once and a while though. It's still fun for me.
However, I can't say the community stinks, especially with all the cussing. Easiest way for me to block it out is to click on a user, open up a whisper tab, and the chat is gone. Only would have to worry about the chat bubbles.
Going to a smaller vanilla was usually the easiest solution, also, it was hard with so many players anyway.
The horrid music rooms were really the thing for me. i always just wanted to play some nice, positive music to share with others. Now the only thing they play are perverted, innapropriate, or otherwise non-kidfriendly videos.
