people as gamers like "mini cars" games and hard games, as said before,
, i am completely addicted to this game, have most of the market mini cars games, and this may be easily one of the better (all time).
my guess is about to have tracks, going the low price can say 1 euro per track, going the deluxe product can set it to 1.5 to 2 euro for track without much difficulty, for the quality of the product 2 euro per track is fair price for me,
we can see other games with "basic" version and then season pass or DLC's that easy go on the high price way.
the only thing i may go against is a subscription model, can be handly, but if you see the game's market you will find very very few games with subscription, another thing is "freemium" games, as in example RIFT, that have the free to play version and then a Premium membership, so i can understand that too.
as some others users in the forum said standard simulators, and i see VRC PRO as simulator, usually cost that money, around 40 to 60 euro for the basic version and then the extra tracks and cars on DLC's and/or season pass.
So, at least for me, the "Base" price of the steam package is fair going around 1 euro per track that is what allow you to race more in less time.
also cannot wait to deluxe version and how much tracks it gives to players/users.
just as a side note, if a game go down on price it will sell more units and from that point of view is hard to set a price that can fit for all potential users.
in example, if a game about car (or track) "collection" sell on 1 to 2 euro per unit it may sell 20 units to a user, if the price is set to 20 euro per car/track it may sell nothing,
in that scenario, in the first case the game sell 20 euro worth of items, on the second case it sell nothing.
again, for the end, i will find fair anything below 3 euro per track for this game, the quality is high and people failed to see it as a simulator.
excuse my poor english and best regards.
i will be pleased with any word about when the deluxe version will come to steam
best regards.
Let me explain, i am not a VRC user in real life and i have never take hands on a VRC car, except the electric cars in my young time (i'm born in 1980). but i like that.
So yes for me, it is overpriced because i must put minimum 39.99€ in the game to enjoy it, to see it's potential and to be able to compete with the other players who are familiars to VRC world.
Second point, i don't get a command unit, but i enjoy the game with my Xbox360 gamepad.
And to finish, i think the offer at 49.99€ (game + adaptator) for those who are familiar to VRC world and who have a command unit is pretty well priced.. because they think about the price in comparison to real VRC car.
But for those like me, who are interested in the VRC game but don't know anything about VRC at all and don't own a controller, the game for 39.33€ is overpriced, because for us, we see this like a game.
Actually you give to the VRC fan a great deal to enjoy their passion but for people who are new to this world and want to enjoy the game with the possibility to compete with the "VRC pro" in the game..
So i think you must perhaps rework the packtage and the price.
So 50€ for the game and the USB adaptator, i think it's well priced.
But a 20€ / 25€ pack with one modified car in each categories to let the newbies be able to compete with the VRC users and the same tracks can be a good deal.
I think you have overpriced the game and too lowerpriced the adaptator, but it's very logic because the game have been devellop in priority to the VRC fan and users.
That's my 2 cent and why for the moment i have don't buy the "VRC pro pack".
The game is pretty cool and the physics are very great, and for that i say good job ;)
Well for me, I would have priced it slighly lower say £9.99 but will fewer cars and tracks, then offered a more comprehenive version at say a £24.99 price point.
Looking at another program in the same area but dealing with RC Flight. Aerofly RC7 which is great btw has a beginner, Professional and ultimate edition and those three packages seem to be very much how folks wanted it sold, The curious just bought the beginner, The more in tune with heli`s and quads bought the Pro and finally those who wanted all models to fly in every scenery bought the ultimate and it seemed to work out well.
Personally I think the biggest trick you guys have missed is in not having a slim-line version on Steam that the curious can download for free, Say two or three cars, One track and small selection of customization options and no multiplayer. This I thinik would prove popular to new people who are wondering if it`s something they want to purchase. I know you guys have something like this on your website but alot of people would prefer to obtain it through steam I`d wager.
I`ve not yet boughtVrc-Pro but I am tempted as I did enjoy everything RC in my youth. Having last xmas bought Aerofly Rc-7, A realistic RC car racing game could be very fun to play.
Mini.
The sim feels nice as a sim, but a bit pricey for Steam (yeah, as stated above we mostly see this as a "game"). From my side -I liked rc cars as a kid and used to play with my father's, but never went for competitons or anything like that-, I would pay the price it has for all the features you offer at the full-pack subscription.
There's other software that might be similar to VRC PRO (a well balanced racing simulator that gives, for us, Steamish gamers, not the chance to practice but the thrill of online competitive racing, with a steep learning curve, but enjoyable since the very beginning) that give you it all (or almost all, but not a small amount of content) with a lower price, or similar: Life For Speed, Stock Car Extreme, Asseto Corsa, GT Legends (with a huge amount of free content from fans) ...
I'll be editing this if I get to do more homework :D
In my own case, I've already purchased the Steam base game at current pricing, and am really enjoying it - so much so that I can't wait to purchase additional tracks (especially offroad). But I did initially walk away from an impulse buy because of sticker shock - not so much because I find the current price unreasonable, but because I couldn't be certain in advance that I'd derive ~£30 worth of fun from the package (especially without *modding support*, which always adds huge long-term value to sims for me). I'm not a real-world RC racer... at least not yet (this game might convert me!). Had there been a £9.99 basic version with an upgrade option, I would've lept on it no questions asked, because that's the kind of money I'm willing to chance on speculative software purchases.
I will say that I was already familiar with VRC Pro for the last few years. I'll be honest and admit that I tried the demo once upon a time and was turned off by the lack of demo content available for evaluation (I couldn't see the bigger picture at the time, and I would've been more interested had it come with a cooler track, like the Rheine main), the subscription model, and the freemium approach. I very much *approve* of the more traditional pricing model you've chosen with Steam.
I have loads of Steam friends in my age bracket (30-50), and I've been instant-messaged about a dozen times in the last two days that I've owned a copy of VRC Pro on Steam, asking what I thought of it. Obviously, I am recommending it, but they are *all* hesitating so far because of the price. I reckon a tiered-pricing structure like the one suggested by Mini Heroes and myself would get them off the fence and into VRC Pro.
Good luck! - Also, sell me some DLC offroad tracks ASAP, please ;).
not paying $40 if i only get "some" tracks and cars.. pfft ill download the free version from the website.
looks like a fun game though. shame about the pricing
After playing the PRO version on Steam I do feel it was a little overpriced. Even before deciding to purchase it I was on the fence about buying it for a few days.
To me £15-20 seems a good price point.
That said if we are to get more content from via patches for the PRO version I am more than happy with the current price. The Steam version currently seems to be lacking in class types at the moment. E.G. only one buggy class.
I have also ordered the adapter. which I do feel was very reasonably priced.
Also, lowering the price could potentially bring in more users (those multiplayer lobbies seem so empty!) and they in turn may spread the game more, bringing in more revenue.
Just muh 2 cents
Edit: Wanted to add that I do really enjoy the game, and want to see it succeed!
I didn't play this game but i would say somewhere around 15 euros, you have to build your reputation first ... In all the days there are like only 30-40 reviews in 1 week which means almost none are buying this.
You have to put more effort in advertising and giving keys out to reviewers/gamers for advertising, like me for example with 60k subscribers... Unfortunately i won't do any reviews and advertising since you missed your chance.
Like with most other games on Steam, there will of course eventually be a good discount. The gradual discount program will bring the price down to around the acceptable level. First it will be around €30 (-25%) and dropping to €25-20. (-50%) This is simply a matter of time.
We could also bring the price down much quicker, but we will have to compensate everybody who already purchased it at the current price. For example by giving them some extra track(s) for free.
About the Deluxe pack, we are thinking about releasing 4 separate packs, each at €9,99:
- €9,99 Cars expansion pack | 6 cars
- €9,99 Off-road tracks | 5 tracks
- €9,99 Elecrtic on-road tracks | 5 tracks
- €9,99 Nitro on-road tracks | 5 tracks
This means about €2 per new track, and even less per new car. That seems acceptable.
About the 'build your reputation' comment, I partly agree and disagree. In the end, a game's true value is in it's gameplay. And VRC PRO has a very unique gameplay and gives you an excellent, extremely addictive, highly rhytmic flow experience. So far, everybody who has actually put the €34,99 down and tried VRC PRO has had a surprizingly good experience...
So we're not settled on any solution yet, but love to hear your comments on these thoughts.
Thanks!
