My understanding is that development has either stalled or is frozen. last update was November 2023. It is still playable, and still loads up. I am not sure why it has stalled out, my guess is funding dried up. Also in 2023 they revoked "lifetime" access to updates retroactively, mostly related to the dying sales and inability to update the physics engine when their single physics dev quit.

RC racing is a very niche activity, with perhaps fewer than 200,000 active racers world-wide. With such a small and focused hobby, it takes a great deal of dedication to make any of it work (at all). There are often fewer than 100 active racers on VRC Pro.

What VRC needed to do was develop a subscription model with licensing support from the bigger manufacturers. The subscriptions would probably have to be pretty steep, perhaps as much as $100 a month for basic access, or a micro-transaction fee for every virtual practice or race session. I'm not sure it would be financially viable.

It was a good idea, though perhaps a little too ambitious. I purchased it to support the concept. Maybe someone will pick up what is left and move it forward.

VRC Pro recently posted that new tracks are in development. Sadly, no new cars can be added due to a lack of funding for a physics developer. Perhaps if more people supported the game it would do better.
Are you creating off-road or on-road tracks?

I hope its not dead but it does feel like it has not been giving the love it deserves.
we need mod support and this game would take of if they just did it similar to how MX bikes does it. the game would be amazing but what do i know its probably quite hard to do that? I also want to see a graphics revamp it would make the game much more enjoyable!

the game is developmentally frozen but the servers still run and the community is still very active. The VRC World website is where you can contact all the racers and track stats. The VRC channel still runs worlds and other tournaments.
