VRC Not detecting any USB device

Hello VRC Folks & Dev team. I am having an issue with VRC that is driving me nuts and I cannot figure it out. This game has worked for me flawlessly in the past. I got really into Drones for a bit there and didn't play VRC for a year. Now that I am back I cannot get it to work anymore with any of my USB devices.

I have tried the 22 in 1 sim USB cable thing that always worked for me in the past and NADA. Tried Xbox controller.. ZIP. I tried using my FRSKY Taranis in USB mode.. zilch. Finally.. I plugged in a CH Products joystick just for the heck of it and still no dice.

The issue I have is that all of these devices seem to be working perfectly fine when I go to "Setup USB Controllers". I can see the device, I can calibrate and I can see the axes moving as expected. However, once I launch VRC and try to configure and calibrate the Joystick it does not work. Its like I have nothing connected.

VRC knows there is a Joystick there but the word is RED, FPS shows ZERO and when I click the green calibrate button it opens the same "Setup Controller" dialogue as I get in Windows but alas.. no devices are there.

I am completely stumped on this one. Worst part is that I have ordered one of the VRC USB stick things and it's on its way to me right now. However, I am worried that even with the official USB device I won't be able to make this work.

I would rather NOT have to resort to reinstalling windows or anything that crazy but I am willing to do so if it's the only fix.

Curious if anyone has any other solutions for me to try or has run into this issue themselves.

Any assistance on this would be UBER appreciated.

Problem resolved by disabling Steam's Generic Controller thing..

Go to steam > settings > Controller Setttings .. it's at the bottom.

Post 2 worked for me when I tried to use my vrc usb on a new win 10 computer. Should be a sticky.

any other reason that would cause a controller not to work? ive tried this and so many other things. the controller works in steam just not in game.
