Campaign and event stories related? [spoilers]

Are they? When I played the previous events story I hadn't yet completed the campaign, Paradeus hadn't even shown up, so everything felt disconnected and I assumed it was. Now I've finished the main campaign and in that context the cafe event's story feels like it could take place at something like chapter 10 or 11. Aphelion so far (not finished yet) seems like it's the same timeframe but from a different viewpoint. Either way, I feel like there's a chapter or two of knowledge that I should have that I'm missing and it's leaving me with some general confusion. If they are related, is there any way to catch up on what I've missed?

After chapter 8, read the Amidst Wings of Grey event, then the cafe event. You can do it on YT since the devs haven't made the events permanent yet. After you read those two Aphelion won't be out of nowhere.

It really sucks that the events aren't permanent. I feel like I'm missing out on highly relevent story content.
I hope they change this ASAP.
