Netorare - as in, cheating.
GFL2 does not include any such story development… But there was a huge controversy in China about a cutscene.

It even bled into other MICA's other games such as Bakery Girl getting review bombed on Steam by CN bots on release.
Not the first gacha game drama, but one of the dumber and more impactful ones.
The anime girls are not real. You will never meet them. And even if you did meet them, what makes you think they would like you? Why do people get death threats and have the actresses apologize over something as simple as "anime girl talked to a male character"?
I understand idol culture and otaku culture are crazy but every time I hear about gacha game otaku culture I feel like I live in an exaggerated parody world

My cliff's notes overall theory: Aggressive work culture leads to loneliness epidemic, which is then served by entertainment industries that are hyper-specialized to catering to fantasy (in gacha case: "waifu fantasy"). Combined with a "customer is always right" service mentality eventually leads to Karenization whenever the fantasy is disturbed.
CN, KR and JP have different flavors of cringe with different cultural explanations. But the overall theory should hold.
Western nations are currently working on getting to that cringe level via entertainment. (Though if you change some wording such as "aggressive political culture" and change the fantasy to "save-the-world fantasy" there might be something.)
If I were the developers I would tell them to touch grass but I understand that would probably be PR suicide. Jesus.
